18Z HRRR is sweet for the Shenandoah Valley. Huge improvement.

Radar looks juicy down on the Gulf coast. Should have plenty of moisture up here later. Not sure if the trajectory will work out for those of us to the west. But someone is gonna get some heavy rates up here at least.

There just isnt really a cold air mass behind this front. Cold enough to snow? Sure I guess. But not cold at all.

I dont really care about any of them at this point. I care about the radar. Thats about it.

So far the 12z models seem to want to keep the surface warmer than they were last night. Soundings last night had snow falling with 33 degree temps at the surface here. 12z suite so far is 37-38.

Yeah. NAM sucks for our area. Thank god is sucks as a weather model as well.

0z hrrr holds serve. Feeling pretty confident about getting an inch or two of mashed potatoes tomorrow night.

I agree about the temps going in. But this sounding from my area is gorgeous. Would be a beatdown for a couple of hours at least.

The RGEM finally has a little snow out this way at 18Z as well. It had shown no snow at all up until this run. Nice to see something trending better instead of the other way for once.

Winter used to be pretty common place in Dec out there. And that is what I was saying.

I was down around Woodstock, VA today working. Which is 30 or so miles south of Winchester, and I saw snow covered mountains to the west. That is rare in December and usually means a good winter. I have been watching flakes of some kind fall off and on for a week. I know PSU hasnt gotten his inch. But I am feeling like we get obliterated at least once this winter. It just FEELS like it to me.

42/30 HRRR brings precip into Frederick County, VA for a few hours overnight. I think we have a legit chance at a dusting at least. Forecast low overnight is 32 here.

12z 3K does manage to hold the clipper together enough to get some precip into the Winchester area tonight. Its rain. But pretty close. We'll see.
