  1. 0z HRRR is a trainwreck heading into Tuesday. On to Thursday we go.
  2. I get it. I have another month and a half and then I am gone until next October. 6 months a year is about all I can handle.
  3. Non event for those of us to the NW. Nothing on the ground or anything else. Enjoy the ice to the east ya'll.
  4. OK. That post from Randy is one of the best ever going back to Eastern. Period. And I dont care what anyone else says. I was literally laughing my ass off reading it. Instant CLASSIC.
  5. 18Z NAM is a straight up rainstorm. If shows freezing rain during this frame. Ummm no.
  6. Before you came back I had mentioned in a long range thread that I am seriously starting to wonder if Enso means anything at all in our area.
  7. I think it was actually slightly better at 850. And the HP over the top was definitely better. Not that it matters. Better isnt good enough to stop the screaming upper level winds out of Central America.
  8. Sleet/snow mix here in the Winchester area. 26 degrees. First precip of the event here.
  9. Meh. I was hoping that band would be snow. Winchester actually lucked out with this one. We have had nothing the entire day.
  10. Better HP this run vs. 0Z. 1037 vs. 1034. It helps in the upper levels just enough to snow us at the start.
  11. The Euro is basically a rainstorm for Tuesday. Rain and 32 NW of the cities.
  12. Looks like something is going to be moving into the Winchester area in the next hour or so.
  13. The GFS does beat down the SE ridge by next weekend. We should have a period in late February that can give us chance.
  14. Yeah. I think the snow option is gone. When your 850's are streaming in from the Yucatan you can kiss that goodbye. I would prefer sleet if at all possible. Regardless it looks like a pretty severe ice event. Temps here never get into the upper 20's until Friday at 0Z.
  15. GFS is pretty darn cold for Thursday. Mid to upper teens before the precip comes in.
  16. the GFS is a sleet bomb out this way. .7 QPF as sleet. Which I would obviously prefer to zr.
  17. Euro is one hell of an ice storm on Tuesday. Although it has been over amped all winter. Edit: I should add for NW of the cities of course.
  18. I cant believe we are going to go through a 2 month historic blocking period without getting crushed at least once. It appears that way anyways.
  19. Colder at the surface. But still the Yucatan express at the upper levels.
  20. The flow at 850 on the GFS is troubling to say the least. Straight out of the Yucatan isnt gonna cut it for the Tuesday event.
  21. Its funny. I moved from eastern Loudoun 19 years ago based on snow. I wanted to stay in VA. And I literally researched the highest snow areas. This one was perfect for us. Great schools for my kids, relatively cool summers, fun downtown area and lots of history. I have grown to love the Winchester area. I could have moved further NW and been guaranteed another 5 inches per winter. But you have to find that balance. Now that I am aging I spend more and more time at my beach house though. Both of my kids are gone. And shoveling isnt as fun as it used to be. It is funny how your priorities change as you age. Anyways, sorry for my life story. But it kind of supports your comment. If you love snow bad enough move to where it actually snows.
  22. Nice! Mashed potatoes for the win.
