  1. Had an overnight low of 22.7 with a skiff of snow and a high of 41.5 with bright sunshine. First day that it really felt like fall. Hard to sleep last night from the sound of all the bugs dying. I just smiled and rolled back over.
  2. 2019 First Flakes here! Went from 64.3 to 33.1 in a little over 4 hours. Winds are tolerable. I did have a gust to 37 a little while ago. The first cold front that says winter is near.
  3. I agree. I think the last few years have shifted the bar a little. We forget what a nice leaf out is. This year isn't one.
  4. Around here I think we are in trouble. Lots of brown patches and some trees are just shedding before any color. Last year was pretty horrible compared to the norm. We'll wait and see but just don't believe they're going to be all that pretty this year. Never seen a "delayed" peak season that was great. But as usual, there will be some areas that will have good color. If anyone is planning a trip up should get the local scoop from where they'll be.
  5. High of 62 today with a touch of breeze. Signs of things to come. Looks like we've still got some heat to get through though.
  6. Moved back to the hills from Salter Path yesterday because of ANOTHER hurricane. Lost the pool, gazebo, and boardwalk and steps to the beach last year. Just had all those things rebuilt this spring. Picked up our return permits before we left yesterday so I'll be going back next week. Hopefully, they won't be required. We better have a killer winter this year to make up for it.
  7. Going to be hot here in Salter Path as well. That's why I had them put in an ocean out back. Pricey, but worth it when it heats up. My station in Yancey Co. says it's 66.9. Can that be right?
  8. This storm has been far less impressive than I thought it was going to be. Mountains chewed it up. Only .19 inches of rain and a little breezy and that's it. Maybe some redevelopment later? I want to hear some noise.
