Maybe you know this but essentially we want a +PNA and a -EPO. The lower heights southwest of Alaska is the -EPO. The higher heights in western Canada and US is the +PNA. This plot shows a great pacific pattern. Even though the Atlantic looks terrible, we did really well.

The 0z GEFS supports the OP. Not as good as 18z but most of the members get some flakes into the area.

I would take the GFS depiction for xmas and run.

The 850 line is all the way down in NC but it’s raining up to Wisconsin. Just can’t get any decent cold air?

Took a step back on the snow from 6z but also less flooding rain.
