  1. Radar shows a yellow band down by Richmond. Immediate metro just a green line of moderate rain.
  2. If this storm gets 1" in the DC metro will this forecast be a bust? I've seen some of these models, but today's temps were way too warm to produce this much forecast snow. Ground too warm. The day(s) before the storm has to be subfreezing for this type of snow totals to produce. I was driving around today (in and around beltway) and outside temp read 37. I've just lived here too long and that's what I've observed. being outside and not inside looking at computer models.
  3. Temp slightly overperformed today. Hit 76 when it was forecast at 70.
  4. Hoping these blobs wring themselves out. Cools everything off. then some clearing and I can get some outdoor tennis in.
  5. Stationary rain blobs firing off in Annandale. Also, with thunder.
  6. Pop up rain shower in Annandale...
  7. Got pounded so hard that I had to delay my departure time this am. I left when the rain lightened up. I'll have a full accounting of how much i got in that short timeframe tonight. DCA got 1.68" in 1 hr. Also, snapped the rushing clouds with some peeks of blue skies right after that deluge. I think it's been all clouds for the past 2 days.
  8. National hit a high of 90 and stands at 87 rn. Not the 96 that was predicted. I'll take it!
  9. I think the region averages 3" per month. Anecdotally, I think those big, dumping blogs of rain only occur from April to August. Source: my side outside stairs drain only backs up during these months. No matter how clean I keep it! Hurricanes that work their way up later in the summer, including September, tend to be more general, steady rain events over a 1-2 day period.
  10. Rainbow and sunset after the line went through. I think we got .16"
  11. The last real summer, no-rain drought was 2011, if i remember correctly.
  12. I grew up in Laredo, TX and this is just your basic summer. Think of a mini Houston with some dry heat days from the Chihuahua desert to give you variety! Also, worked for a company from El Paso (more dry heat). I did business trips there in the summer. Can say that was the only city where you would cross the roadway and slightly sinking into the spongy asphalt (walking).
  13. Loving this weather. Got a new A/C 1 or 2 years ago. Keeping up really well with these high humid days. No afternoon thunderstorm threats. Taking my walks when the sun goes down. Eating ice cream outside...
  14. You can always tell the transplants from Buffalo and northern parts about now. They drive around with their windows down and big smiles on their faces.
  15. Looking NE from the Pentagon Sheraton.
  16. Threat of storm activity this afternoon has been diminished. At least inside the beltway. May be able to get a walk or a bike ride in.
  17. I gotta say: I told you so! Take your umbrellas tomorrow everyone.
  18. Grrr. No rain measurements at DCA.
  19. Can I hold you to that spectacular prediction? I remember looking this past weekend and it was gonna be spectacular today and yesterday.
  20. Line last night got me .18. It was supposed to be high pressure this week, but t-storms tomorrow and showers Wednesday means that cloudy all week with showers for all!
  21. That line had some impressive an yellow and orange front line that seems to be dissipating.
  22. Kinda steamy out there right now. dewpoint is 67.
  23. Rain clouds moving at a good clip according to radar, but there is no wind to speak of at ground level. It's like the Bermuda triangle out there.
  24. Can you tell me the procedure for rescuing these? I've wanted to do this, but not sure where to put them. If I put them on the road, I'm afraid they'd get run over.
