  1. If we get a wet summer like last year, it will do fine. Otherwise, lots of watering may be needed, especially sunny south exposure, or it will die and the crab grass will fill in.
  2. Seeding in the spring can be problematic due to crab grass and soil moisture. crab grass pre-emergent (if you use it) will interfere with seedlings, and grass started in the spring isn't as capable of withstanding summer dryness as grass started in the fall.
  3. Thread title is misleading. We all wish this were the 25th winter storm of the winter.
  4. Starbucks burns their beans. Destroys all the subtle flavors from the roast. They also bought and closed my favorite coffee shop of the early 90s, the Coffee Connection.
  5. 42F rain and wind here in Islandia on Long Island
  6. Light snow and 28F, looks like about 5" IMBY.
  7. It was 6 grand. 2k for the remanufactured engine (delivered from California), 3k in labor, and another grand in various parts and pieces that needed to be replaced (timing belt, motor mounts, suspension linkages/bushings, engine sensors, and other stuff that broke when changing engines). This is for a 97 accord. Always garaged, no rust, one owner (my in laws bought it for my wife after she graduated from college, and I got it when we married), everything else works great, even the AC. With the new engine and new suspension bushings, it like a new car, but I don't need to worry about dings or dents, 'cause its already got those. The other piece of the puzzle is I have 3 teenagers, including 2 boys who are on the verge of getting their drivers licenses. With insurance costs so high for new male drivers, having a cheap car makes that bill more manageable.
  8. Blew the engine in my Accord a couple of months back. Car prices are so wacked right now that I opted to replace the engine, instead of the car.
  9. If it can't get worse, it can only get better.
  10. Truck pulls the boat, but I wash the boat more than the truck.
  11. I usually just click on the last page of the storm threads.
  12. Must be ski season in New England ! lol
  13. Whistler Blackcomb was like that last time I visited. 5K verts, but the good snow didn't start until you were at the top of your 3rd lift.
  14. Part of Wildcat's staffing issue is probably related to the lack of places to live nearby. I was a ski bum after college for a season at Steamboat. I was living in a house about 15 minutes to the mountain. The house was damaged in a fire due to a faulty safety on the heating system, and we had to leave the house. Nearest place I could find to live was in Oak Creak, about 50 minutes away. That was enough for me to call it quits to my ski bum experience.
  15. Royal Flush is an awesome trail, but it doesn't last long in the spring, it's got a southeasterly exposure and gets blasted by the sun as it gets higher in the sky later in the season.
