  1. The Nov 2018 ice storm down here Waynesboro/Staunton/Augusta was extremely damaging... Listening to the booms and cracks and crashes - seeing blue flashes across the sky that night was unforgettable ... No electric for about a week...So much damage was done to trees with limbs sheared off that we didn't have much in the way of power outages for a few years....
  2. Almost 1 inch in Waynesboro pretty quickly now....
  3. Approaching 1 inch pretty quickly down here in Waynesboro......
  4. Awesome ! Further south maybe over performing a bit ?
  5. Moderate snow has begun here in Waynesboro.... nice coating pretty quickly...
  6. Still waiting for anything to fall here in Waynesboro...
  7. Or with a backyard rim in the snow growing up... I knew I wouldn't have to chase the ball after a shot - it would just plop down in the snow... Frozen hands were a different problem but who cared as a kid...
  8. Saw that in 2016 from the NWS point and click forecast down here for Afton Mt ... 24 to 36 for just that Friday night as the energy transfer occurred....
  9. Perfectly sunny hardly any clouds to completely overcast sky within about 90 mins...
  10. President's Day 2 back in 2003 , measured half inch of snow followed by 7 inches of pure sleet down here - in western Albemarle county then... We didn't get the huge snow totals like just to our north got...
  11. Great map - would be a much enjoyed event for basically all in this forum....
  12. Loud rolling thunder booms and brief heavy downpours Waynesboro now into Albemarle....
  13. Some sleet with some gigantic snow flake bombs mixed in...Waynesboro
  14. Strangest 8 month pattern that I have ever seen down here.... Simply not a whole lot of real precip days this calender year but yet somehow into the 40s on precip totals for the year.... Would still be in the early 20s for totals for the year without Debby and the 2 weeks of tropical moisture at the end of Sept....
  15. Very unique pattern, can't recall something like this... Essentially no meaningful rain from middle of spring to early August here, hence the crippling drought - followed by raging floodwaters from Debby... Then no rain for 3 weeks , then no rain first 2 weeks of Sept followed by 2 weeks of non stop flooding averaging about a inch per day... Now making a run at 4 weeks without any precip... Not a heck of alot of rainy days this year here , but well into the 40s inch totals so far...
  16. Entire parkway is closed starting at Afton... North along Skyline Dr is fine...
  17. Almost to a half inch since midnight with persistent heavy drizzle/light rain.... Just under 14 now in the last 15 days... Simply astounding.
  18. Finished September with 13.38 as light rain continues... The wettest month since I moved to Waynesboro in 07 - that I'm aware of... Kept a daily precip record for 31 years either in western Albemarle or Waynesboro from Sept 89 as a 12 year old to early Sept 2020... Lost most of my data ( which was fine bc I lost something much more important than a notebook of numbers that day ) Started data keeping again 2 years ago... This Sept ranks by memory with Oct 1990 , July 1991 , June 1995 , Sept 1999 all of those were in western Albemarle, faintly remember a couple of 10 inch months in Waynesboro but nothing to this level..
  19. Current Rivanna River reservoir west of Charlottesville, very heavy rain continues...
  20. 2.49 overnight 12.89 for the month
  21. Very impressed with the models tonight - especially the NAM , which has been consistently showing tonight's heavy rain centered over the Waynesboro - Charlottesville corridor....Just about to another two inches tonight ! Extreme 2 weeks ... !
  22. Very intense rain falling again. Approaching 1.3 inches again... This is an extreme 2 weeks - Approaching anything that I ever witnessed either in western Albemarle growing up in the " holler " or as a adult in Waynesboro....
  23. These are some torrential showers along the mts down here particularly in western Albemarle - only took several minutes to flood roadsides
