  1. So are we just gun shy on starting a thread? Western parts of the forum are just a few days out. .
  2. We’re over an inch here in Farragut. It sticks to everything, it’s an icy mess.
  3. I know it won’t happen but there’s a major hurricane approaching Florida in the long range GFS. F* that mess.
  4. Yeah I’m just going to hold off with my thoughts for a while, things were looking good until I opened my mouth then next thing you know everything went poof.
  5. The gfs has been consistently showing a tropical signature the end of Halloween week. Given it’s placement and climatology I wouldn’t be surprised to see some unusual weather in the nov 7-10th range.
  6. Just got back from prepping the other home for the storm, the Floridians don’t care in my area…was the only one sandbagging. With the track shifting south east they may take it more seriously now. The locals are saying Ian is a Hurricane Charley clone.
  7. Curious what Hurricane Ian does to the area. Historically Tropical systems have a way of setting in fall some years but summer has already largely eased off any way. Could be some blustery days ahead for higher elevations.
  8. I’m supposed to be driving to the beach on Friday but there’s no way I’m missing this storm. Wife will hate me but Florida can wait.
  9. Apparently TYS only recorded 0.1” yesterday. I call shenanigans.
  10. I spoke too soon, we’re back to a snow /sleet mix. Feels colder.
  11. In Farragut we had a light dusting then got dry slotted for a bit. It then began to rain about an hour ago where it melted everything. It has been drizzling but now it seems more like sleet and maybe some rain, no flakes.
  12. The current look isn’t bad to me, it’s just knowing the dreaded nw shift always happens right at the end that’s tough.
  13. Is it just me or is that vort riding behind the main storm looking pretty good too?
  14. Not counting the 18z gfs, this has reminded me of the 4-corners lows that people in the plains love for big snows. Interesting to see things shifted so far to the east.
  15. Well let’s hope this was just happy hour gfs doing it’s thing then. It doesn’t come close to the gulf this run.
  16. Would we need the handoff to happen sooner? Or would that just cause an apps runner?
  17. Anybody in Farragut with a report?
  18. Maybe a 1/4” on the ground here at the hospital in Powell on Emory road. A round of rain moved in earlier and wiped out the snow around 3. The snow that’s falling now feels like it isn’t going anywhere.
