  1. The radar where I live always shows this in these type of events no matter how hard it's snowing here. I believe it's where we are in between the Nashville and Morristown radar so the signal is weaker. It's actually coming down pretty heavy compared to the emptiness of the radar
  2. It hasn't stuck to the trees at my house maybe due to the wind, but it's 29 degrees and starting to fill in nicely as it gets darker. Hopefully we can get three more hours of it. Edit: apparently I'm not good at planting trees either.
  3. Lol me too, they're always the first to get smacked in these types of systems. I bet Sparta proper has no snow on the ground just 15 minutes west of him due to the lower elevation. Same situation happens with Cookeville and Monterey a lot.
  4. My coworker that lives just east of Sparta as soon as you get on the Plateau sent me these pictures. He is 2000ft elevation I believe
  5. We had a very light dusting this morning on top of the wet ground but it is all melted now. We've been at 32 degrees for around 3 hours with foggy conditions.
  6. Yeah that's strange Crossville showing around 47 and a few miles northwest it's that much colder. It is now at 39 here. I wonder if it will kinda balance off or warm up a degree or two at some point though.
  7. That'd be sweet. I'm a little late following this. I know TWC forecast has been calling 1-3 inches for almost a solid week for this event. Now it's down to 41 degrees here. Crazy drop from 48 to 41 in about 30 minutes. I wonder if it's the front or maybe it's just raining harder. Edit: Now 40 degrees?! Is the cold front passing through now?
  8. Randomly says 5.3" almost directly over my house lol. If only. I'd take that instantly but I'm sure it'll be a letdown.
  9. It was 48 here a few minutes ago and now it's down to 43 at my house. Monterey reports 44 and Crossville 47. I'm between the two near 2000ft.
  10. Fatalities reported in Putnam County
  11. It was about a mile north of me it looked like on radar. We got high winds and lightning, but barely any rain. I'll drive north a little ways in the AM and see how it looks. The path the storm took in Cumberland County was almost identical to the February 2012 tornado which killed three people. Was woken up by my phone ringing with the automated message for it. Rough night, I didn't realize the storms were expected to be so severe, especially here in Eastern middle TN. All good here just very very spotty cell phone coverage so hopefully this message will submit
  12. Oh yeah true, hopefully it will make it this far though. And awesome, it has slowed down here but we're about to head east anyway so maybe we can drag it over your way lol.
  13. Unfortunately I think that one is rain though :/
  14. I kinda see that. Looks like a comma type motion maybe.
  15. Yeah I'm definitely familiar with them. I'd say that would have a lot to do with it. It doesn't usually snow as much in Crab Orchard as other parts of Cumberland County though either, but I think the elevation is a tad lower there as well. Another thing I've noticed is it seems like the further west you are on the Plateau, the more snow you get at least in these types of events. It's almost like it just smacks into the Plateau and then weakens as it covers the rest of the plateau, similar to what you're saying. The contrast from Cookeville to Monterey (10ish miles apart) is always striking. I am amazed that they are all the same school district because accumulating snow is rare in Cookeville while it can hammer Monterey, but the entire county gets out of school for it regardless. Side Note: I used to live in Deer Lodge!
  16. Small band but looks heavy Monterey looks very heavy on their camera right now as well
  17. Lol, I didn't even realize it was snowing again until I saw your message. It's coming down pretty good right now but mainly on the cars. It's 35 degrees here too. I am actually about to leave for Johnson City in the next hour and won't be back until Sunday so I will miss most of it. Hopefully you'll get some to stick tonight with the nighttime snow and colder temps moving in! Just dropped to 34 actually as it gets heavier. Hopefully it won't get bad on the roads when we head out here shortly.
  18. Nothing special here, but the kids are happy to have two straight snow days going into the weekend which seems to be the case here a lot lately.
  19. The local mets here have been implying that this one is more potent than tonight's system. We'll see. Temperatures look a bit warm Friday
  20. Pleasant Hill - About 10 miles west of Crossville
