I have had to mow in early November, but have forced myself to just deal with long grass now and will not mow past October. I am a bit west so it is not as big of a deal. I have to put away all the summer stuff and get all the Christmas decorations out so I can get started! Seems that may start a bit sooner if we can get a good freeze next week! The lawn has slowed dramatically already.. thank goodness!
What was the earliest measured snow at the major airports? I see Tony Pann saying it was today in 1979 (incidentally, I lived in Richmond VA at the time, and we saw flakes on October 10th that year as well) What about DC and Dulles?
35 here now. Stupid weather station stopped reporting last night, so it likely was a bit cooler. Had to come in here and read. Frosty morning on exposed elevated surfaces.
"I fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous of which is 'Never get involved in a land war in Asia,' but only slightly less well-known is this: 'Never trust the precipitation on the GFS when a Nor'easter is on the line and it is the only model showing it!'"
I think it is safe to say that this is kind of a hybrid type system to an extent. Even NHC is recognizing it. That block to the north is going to flex its muscle.
Looks like Euro has a similar look to 12Z - the secondary swath may have just started to pump. But the low looks different. I think we have a lot of adjustments coming over the next few days.
