  1. Took my niece skiing for the first time today at Royal Mtn. in the southern DAKS. Great coverage and it snowed about 4-5” while we skied. They’re closed midweek so the snow was really great. Powder covered bumps on the lift line were fantastic. Trees weren’t great because under the fresh powder was a breakable crust, but nice powder / packed powder on the trails. 30 runs on the small mountain lol. 1 hour drive and $45 lift ticket. Sweet day!! Oh, and tried my new K2 Shredinator 112mm Twin Tips and they were so much fun!!! .
  2. I think they're gonna suck. Warm rain at all ski areas summits and all. Gonna freeze hard Saturday. Check the reports and maybe there's enough upslope somewhere for decent conditions?
  3. Hey Scott.....The amount of snow in N. VT is amazing. How would you rank this winter as far as rain events and overall snow quality. Seems like a lot of rains to Maine with thaws and refreezes? Seems like just a crap load of precip overall?
  4. Anyone know how far north in VT the sleet made it? My buddy is deciding between Gore or Bromley. I know Gore got hammered by all snow.
  5. What a jerk lol. How not to develop employee loyalty. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. They're K2 Shredinators...112mm underfoot. People say they work pretty well as an all mountain ski. Not super fat.
  7. I struggled at Big Sky last year in 2ft of pow. Decided to get a pair of used ones. Gonna bring them to Bachelor and Timberline in Feb. .
  8. Gonna try to ski Sunday. Powda day. Try out my new fatties. My crazy friend wants to drive Sunday morning. He has a big 4WD. Hope I don’t die trying to get there lol. .
  9. Saturday will probably be between systems. Small one Fri and maybe big one Sunday? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Went to Belleayre for the first time today. Got there early, bagged 14,000 vertical in 3 hours and was home by 2:30. Nice sunny day with some real silky packed powder on 3 or 4 of the trails. Getting the legs ready for the deep powder next weekend lol. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. Did you at least get a free sled trip down the mountain? .
  12. That stinks! So sorry man. Heal quick! Gonna take a lot of snow to cover up this boiler plate. .
  13. I had a great time at Stratton when I went in early Dec. Nice mountain with lots of variety. Seemed well organized and the crowd seemed like a normal ski crowd to me. Only about$50 on ski club days this season. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. I’ve never skied the White’s. Gotta make the drive done day. Cannon is 4 hours for me so would have to be an overnight. I can be in S VT in 1.5 hours. .
  15. You can tell the skiing must generally suck given 3 days w/o a post lol. I assume there’s a lot of ice. Anyone been lately? .
  16. Yeah...darn it! My son is coming home today and heading back to Oregon New Years. I was hoping to do some skiing with him but it doesn't look great. Any ski recently? Was wondering how it is right now. At least I get to ski with him in Oregon in February.
  17. I was thinking of going to Mt. Snow Sunday, but I was worried about ice from last weekends rain and then freeze. Anyone ski Southern VT since the rain? .
  18. I love Bromley. Have gone at least once a year for the last 5 years or so. Never had a bad day at Bromley. Skis like a bigger mountain than it is.
  19. My son used his season pass to Bachelor for the first time today. He was super psyched. He just moved to Oregon. Said the skiing was fantastic. Powder everywhere! I’m going out in February. .
  20. Butternut is a great area for beginners. Gentle slopes and they do a great job with making high quality snow. There grooming is also impeccable. Great Barrington is also a great town right down the road. .
  21. Stratton was great today. Super silky packed powder. Absolutely gorgeous. The top was bluebird sun all day with a gorgeous cloud deck below. Glades were sweet. Conditions reminded me of when I was in Steamboat. Awesome, soft medium sized bumps. Just delicious. .
  22. Cool. Thanks for the advice. I think the rain will just at to the density of the pack.....especially with the ice at the start. Doesn't look like a ton of rain. Probably some good compaction though.
  23. Went to Gore last weekend and used a free ticket. It was pretty good. Some glades were open and were nice. Lots of trails up top were open with natural snow, but coverage was iffy in spots. Rocks here and there. Cruisers were in good shape. Was deciding between Bromley, Stratton and Magic tomorrow. Going by myself so trying to shorten my drive from Albany. Bromley is $44 if you buy online and looks to be fully open! They report 53" for the season. Magic looks to have everything open and would be $61. They report 43" for the season. Tomorrow is a ski club discount day at Stratton so it would be $47 for me. They report only 39" for the season. 14" less than Bromley which is just a few miles down the road? I've been to Magic and Bromley a lot lately, but haven't skied Stratton since the 80's lol. I thought it might be a good time to check it out since it's cheap tomorrow and hopefully the winter crowds aren't there yet? They seem to be like 1/2 open but conditions look pretty epic and they have glades open. Any thoughts would be appreciated......and if anyone wants to meet up, LMK. First world dilemma lol.
  24. Albany almost never gets over 20". We seem to often hit an 18" wall with the "big storms." We average a 20"+ storm about every 14 years. You guys closer to the coast get some rocking storms! I'm just hoping for 6"+ here. Often with these SNE jackpot storms we get shafted. Hopefully we don't get subsidence city from a death band to our east. Spread the wealth.........but whatever happens, it is what is is.
  25. 18F with sleet here. Precip is light. When it picks up, flakes mix in. I think we have about 2".
