  1. Road the lift at Bachelor last week. Got me psyched for some turns. Still patches of snow from last season and they were about 100” below normal!! .
  2. Finally made it to Whiteface to use me free ticket! Woot!!
  3. That looks freaking awesome!!! I gotta get up there someday! .
  4. Mount Snow rocked today too. Got 20,000 vertical of soft bumps, trees and silky packed powder. Very festive with bands and pond skimming and cardboard races. Sunny all day and no lift holds. .
  5. I plan on skiing Whiteface on Sunday. I was thinking of going Saturday but worried about tough driving and wind lift holds. Looks like they are going to get crushed!
  6. So sorry you got hurt again! That really sucks. Southern New England ski areas seemed to have wildly variable conditions this year. Too many thaws and freezes. Dam Ice!!!! I don't go skiing any more when it can be icy. I remember once at magic when my newly razor sharp edges wouldn't do a thing as I accelerated towards the trees. Almost got really hurt. Once I retire in 5 years, I plan on skiing at least 10 days a year out west!
  7. I grew up in Baltimore skiing Roundtop and Ski Liberty! Lots of Middle and High School ski trips. Fun little mountains!
  8. Saturday Here's the forecast for Whiteface. If it's only 17 and windy I bet it doesn't soften up too much.....even in the March sun? Saturday: A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 26. Wind chill values as low as -4. Very windy, with a west wind 41 to 50 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. Saturday Night Sat Night: A 50 percent chance of snow showers before 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 4. Wind chill values as low as -21. Very windy, with a west wind 39 to 44 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible. Sunday Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 17. Windy, with a west wind 29 to 36 mph.
  9. Was supposed to ski Pico today but my body (fever, chills, achy, runny nose) had other plans. Oh well, guess you win some and you lose some. .
  10. Yikes. Despite the horror stories, we will never stop pursuing the snowy mountain dreams!!! .
  11. Yikes!!! My son and I were skiing there Saturday! We tried to avoid tree wells like crazy but geeez, I guess you never know. 12’ of snow on the ground. Scary!! .
  12. Timberline Lodge was a magical place for a snow lover. Watching the snow from inside while sipping cocktails by the fire. Can check it off the bucket list. The hot tub during S+ and strong winds was a bit much, frozen hair and all, but was still a blast. Timberline ski area is a little tame for my liking, but we did find fresh powder all day and found some really great tree skiing. .
  13. They only reported 12” on the website. It was really windy, so hard to measure, but looks like a lot more. Powder none the less then fly back to rain in the east, yay!!! .
  14. Dumping at Timberline Lodge tonight. Tomorrow is a powder day then heading home. About 14” so far. Expecting at least 2ft. by morning. .
  15. 3 great days at Mt. Bachelor with no lift lines. Supposedly the summit lift is often closed due to wind an visibility. People said Sunday and Monday were the 2 best days of the year. Guess I got lucky lol. The mountain is huge and easterners supposedly rarely go past Colorado, Utah, etc. Yesterday it did cloud up and there were times when visibility was extremely low. Every lift is a detachable quad except for an old double that they keep for nostalgic purposes. The mountain really swallows the crowds. No lines on a holiday week!!Hanging out in the lowlands and then off to Timberline on Friday. .
  16. Fantastic powder day at Bachelor today! Minimal lines. Bluebird summit day! .
  17. Long day for me tomorrow. Driving 2.5 hours to Newark. Flying to Portland, OR. Arriving around 9:30pm. Renting SUV, heading to 24 hr Walmart to buy chains, driving 3-4 hours over the Cascades to Bend (meeting son). Hoping to arrive by 3am. Skiing Bachelor Sun, Mon, Tue. Hitting Timberline Lodge at the end of the trip next Sat. Flat landing it in between. .
  18. South Ridge Lift is now open at Killington!!! Woot!! .
  19. I went to Big Sky last spring and it wasn’t too expensive. We found reasonable restaurants. I think I got a 5 day ticket for around $520. The earlier you buy, the cheaper it is. Our hotel was across the street from the slopes and was only around $175 a night. The ski area is amazing. No lift lines, except the tram. .
  20. Bromley was sweet today. No lift lines. A little freezing drizzle in the morning was a bit annoying but then it stopped, snow was soft, trees were good and nice bumps. Sun came out around 2:30. Did have to dodge some rocks in the glades. Wish I lived closer to northern VT this year lol. .
  21. Bummer. Hope you recover quickly. Seems to be a lot of injuries this season! .
  22. Glad you're back out there. That was a quick recovery! Good for you!!!!
  23. Going to Bromley with my niece tomorrow. Hoping it's not crowded being Superbowl Sunday and all. She did great last Sunday 1st day skiing and she was doing intermediates! 2 weeks from tomorrow I should be making turns at Mt. Bachelor with my boy in Oregon! Life is good.
  24. Why can’t they just slowly let the chair run backwards and unload everyone safely at the bottom lol? I’m sure there must be a good reason, but just sayin. #gravity #brakes
