That’s why I advocate Minneapolis as a reasonable compromise city for those who love winter weather but need to support a family. Snowcover since November 26, frozen lakes that just hosted a large national pond hockey tournament...and it’s been a mild with average snowfall.
You be you Beavis.
While I am definitely in the camp of wall to wall cold during DJF, heck even thru April, I understand that living south of 50’ means getting occasional thaws. Chinook effect can be stronger here then Chicago.
Don’t worry Beavis we switched over to predominantly snow/frozen cocktail pretty quickly. Not really heavy enough to accumulate but then again we aren’t forecast to get much this far NW.
I guess the only thing I can expect for sure out of this is every different type of precipitation. Rain, Sleet, Snow, Freezing Rain, Ice Pellets..... Only question is how much falls this far north.
Isle Royale is incredible. I haven’t been since 2008 but loved it, our group had a Wolf walk through our campsite one morning which is super rare. We thought it was a rangers dog at first.
Do you still get a reaction to mosquitos bites? I spent a summer working for the Yukon Geological Survey and ever since those 8 weeks of constant swarms my body seems to have developed an immunity to bites.
Yeah we’ve build up a solid pack over the past week. There has been compaction but we haven’t had bare ground since November 26th. (Sorry Beavis)
I live very close to the airport so I typically go off what they report, besides the occasional eyeball estimate. At 6am the total was 4.9” and we've added a little under an inch since, so storm total will probably be 5.5-6.0”
