  1. 96 for the high here yesterday. Well short of the record of 102. Looks like 6”+ across central Colorado mountains overnight based on webcams. Friend staying in Aspen said even town at an elevation of 7900’ got an inch of snow.
  2. Already nearly 80F at 8am with dews around 70F. Can’t drink enough water working outside today.
  3. Garden variety storm yesterday, at least the lawn got watered
  4. Radar looks great to my north. Can’t wait to get missed again and end up with plain rains
  5. I’ve been focused on things other then the weather the past week. Much of the riots and civil unrest have been occurring close to my home, (I live in the 3rd precinct) but the neighborhood has banded together and my family is safe. On topic, our first 90 of the season at MSP. Impressive considering we’ve only had one 80 degree day before this. 90 appears a lock tomorrow before hopefully our first thunderstorm of the season. (I’m not counting a couple minutes of heavy rain and two weak rumbles.)
  6. The air smells of smoke this morning but it isn’t from wildfires.....
  7. 1.3” of rain but only a couple distant rumbles of thunder. Can’t seem to get a thunderstorm to make its way up here this year. Yesterday was also the first official 80 degree day of the year at MSP with a high of 81.
  8. Maybe just maybe we can actually get a storm to hold itself together as it reaches the metro today.
  9. We've had two days now of great looking storm complexes completely fall apart before they reach the Twin Cities and leave us with 20min of drizzle. If i'm going to be stuck inside this holiday weekend at least give me interesting weather to look out the window at. I should mention that I am stuck inside because the wife had ACL surgery not because of any legal restrictions in place.
  10. Wow historic event happening in Michigan. That Dow chemical plant worries me. I’m sure they have a floodwall and emergency plan in place but dam failure is certainly the worst case scenario. Hope contaminates can be contained onsite.
  11. Late last week it was looking muggy with upper 80s to 90 around here for the holiday weekend. Now it appears low 70s and showers. I'll take it, my wife is having ACL surgery on Thursday so crummy weather is fine.
  12. Storm total up to 2.00” haven’t had a single rumble of thunder just steady rain all night.
  13. Our turn to get in on the action. 1-3” expected area wide by tomorrow.
  14. Have seen less then a quarter inch of rain this month. Could use some of that excess moisture down in IL up here.
  15. Down to 30F imby last night. Widespread 20s outside the urban heat island. Time for some May mood flakes today, I will be eyeballing the deck this evening to see if we can accumulate anything
  16. I’ll take no blowtorch please with a side of Canadian high pressure.
  17. Minneapolis received 15” of snow on April 16. Lakes were iced over until early/mid May and many had record late ice out dates. Memorial Day weekend it was 95-100F and I was swimming in Gull Lake two weeks after ice out.
  18. Was there never a thread made for this event? I remember living in Iowa City and taking a drive west to experience a May snow. https://www.weather.gov/dmx/maysnow
  19. Very true, I definitely get antsy once the annuals start popping up and trees begin to leaf out. Plus it seems lately the growing season has extended well into October/early November for certain plants.
  20. Looking at the Euro makes me glad i've held off planting the victory garden. Wife always insists on waiting until May 15th, this year she is going to be right.
  21. Well this sure is fun to play around with. Looks like an "average" winter for Minneapolis. 51.5" of snow fell which is 2.9" below normal so pretty close there. We actually had a snowcover streak of 97 days this winter which is surprising given how mild it was, that definitely pushed us out of the "moderate" category.
  22. Steady rain with a few heavier downpours all morning. 0.94” in the neighborhood gauge with more on the way. Needed a good soaker just sucks to have a job where you work outdoors in this weather.
  23. 7.3” looks to be the final snow total for April 2020. It’s been a dry month here as well, only 0.86” of precipitation so the majority has been in frozen form. Honestly it’s nice to have a dry April for a change. The Mississippi flooding isn’t close to as bad as previous years as we also had a gradual melt off. Some of my favorite metro area trails through the bottomlands along the river were flooded most of the previous two years and are already almost good to go. Beautiful weekend on tap once again. Sitting outside and some of the honeysuckle and birch are beginning to leaf out. I see the large oak also is budding.
