Yeah, I'm quickly leaning into the doubter camp here looking at the current radar. That freezing line got held up in the mountains just long enough to let the moisture escape. It looked good for a while though. If we get anything frozen I'm starting to think it will be from the banding showing up in TN, maybe swinging thru the piedmont before daybreak. I think I'll get some flakes tonight on camera at the farm in Stuart, just not here in the triad. Edit - front is knocking on the door in Stuart. Just dropped 2° in 10 minutes. Game on.

Local forecast now calling for moderate snow accums at the farm in Stuart, Va. May be working from there on Wednesday! 1,400' elevation can make all the difference on these marginal events.

Say what you will about the models, but once CAD is locked into the forecast, I cant remember the last time CAD underperformed here in the triad. We're in the honey pot here for pingers and ZR.

My yard here in the triad is just mush. And I live on the top of a hill too. Too late in the season for any sun to dry things out. And the rain events, while reasonably spaced, are large events. Cant say I have ever had mud on my shoes after putting up Christmas lights. I would be quite happy with a dry December.

Off topic, but anyone heard from Mack since he moved to IA and should already have at least 2 good snows under his belt?

NWS took rain chances completely out of my forecast in Winston and took my 50% chance of snow showers out of my Stuart VA forecast at the farm. Says sunny on Monday now. Next!

I was starting to anticipate this post. Temps are plummeting nicely across the foothills. I imagine some of the Triad viewing area to the northwest will certainly see a few flakes. But I would be quite surprised to see anything sneak into Winston.

Severe flooding late morning around the Noda area in downtown CLT. Daughter sent me pics outside of her apartment with multiple cars under water. Sugar Creek was completely out of its banks.

You're definitely gonna be on the high end. Moisture from Eta now enhancing the precip field across central NC and into eastern NC. Here in the Triad this morning I'm seeing flooding in places I've never seen flood before, and deep at that, which tells me there are a lot of clogged drains around in addition to the heavy rains. Still pouring here east of Winston.

I thought the wind would die down with the exit of the shower bands.....WRONG! Its getting consistently worse here in the Triad.

Had about an hour or two of the 25-30 mph gusts. But the damage was done in the 15 minutes of (i'm estimating) 45-60mph gusts. Took everything down at that point. So I would be expecting a brief intense period of wind east of the triad as the day progresses. EDIT- As I type this there was another very strong gust likely around 45-50mph.

Zeta doing its thing for sure here in the Triad. Trees down, power flickering, branches slamming the side of the house and nearly every leaf is now in my yard. I foresee a sunny weekend cleanup and burn pile. And there goes the power. Down for the count!

Mack did move to Iowa and I hope he stops by the SE forum a few times to share details of his winter with us. I have a feeling he will miss the SC warmups and rue the plains winter.

Clipped 80° here in the Triad. Pretty sure its all downhill from here folks. Beautiful fall so far but Delta may blow the early color off the trees this weekend. Looking forward to pegging that first freeze. I'll say Old Man Winter plays along with 2020 and go with election day here at KGSO. Everyone can freeze to death waiting outside to vote. Hurricane Delta - "Hold my beer and watch this" A little to early to write her / him / it off with a low intensity forecast. If Delta gets through a full ERC and accelerates a bit you could easily be dealing with another deteriorating Cat 4 storm similar to a Katrina. I hate that comparison, but its valid nonetheless.

Or to be clear, are you saying the average historical monthly low temp is 46°?

I really enjoyed the "immature" Reed Timmer who was genuinely excited about the chase and wanted to take us along with him whether the storm panned out or not. After watching the Laura feed, I absolutely cant stand him. His persona has been corrupted for commercialized purposes. The Laura chase completely exposed who he is now, constantly asking his cameraman "Chris" how he wanted to set up the next shot. We got to see his canned reactions practiced over and over again to be filmed for distribution to news outlets. I get it, thats his living and the intensity sells. But knowing what we are seeing today from Reed is total BS dramatically alters his watchability for me. It used to be passion and curiousity in the "old days". Now its "hey Chris, how loud do you want me to scream on this next shot?" Get rid of the crew Reed and just be you.
