I'm getting sick of the cold wind blasted rain along the shore the past few weeks, Sunday and Monday felt like 24+ hours of 30mph sustained winds with cold rain... I definitely would of taken the snow with this one if I had a choice. Not like I'm doing anything outside anyways, beaches, golf courses, ski resorts all closed. Even Mount Washington is closing off access to tuckermans, gulf of slides etc to back country travelers. Coastal flooding would be much more of a concern though if this came in next week during astronomical high tide.

What a beast on satellite. It's really starting to back NW now watching the loops. Should be fun to watch the surf tomorrow morning. Quite a few ECMWF members make it sub-tropical as well.

NWS now saying the Oregon/Rockford TOR is confirmed on the ground by radar. Starting to show up on CC on a few frames. Looks to stay SE of downtown Rockford in my opinion if it holds together.

Not even a trace of snow on the coast here in Hampton, just some wet flakes earlier but pounding rain and wind other then that. About an inch of slop if you go only a few miles inland though, GYX wasn’t joking when they said this would be rain on the “immediate” coast. Radars been lying to me all night but assuming that has to do with how high the beam is this far away from it.

Couple light flakes in Hampton. Really strange to see a WSW in Rockingham county in NH but not even an advisory for western Essex in MA. Places like Methuen/Salem NH will pretty much report the same totals most events.

Ya we shall see, I think the damage in Cookeville might end up being EF-4 (photos below.) Not that it really matters. The toll is staggering regardless what it gets rated.

And up to 21...just terrible. Looks life EF-4 to me based on the images I’ve seen but we will see what the survey says. Close to a worst case scenario with it being in the middle of the night and through a very populated area. I read at least 14 of the fatalities were in Putnam county over by Cookeville which is well east of Nashville. They should of had plenty of lead time to take precautions but perhaps it didn’t matter with the strength and timing...

From there AFD. The peak wind of the day so far was at the top of Kirkwood Mountain with a gust of 209 mph. If this observation is verified as accurate, then that could be the new California record high wind! This is an unofficial measurement until it is certified as accurate.

What in the hell is an in-house model anyways? Am I seriously to believe NBC has the processing power to run there own weather model or is it some algorithm of current models available? Generally curious.

Congrats to the northern VT folks on this one. Jay Peak and surrounding areas should be great this weekend. NAM 3K continues to be an utter failure resolving this system showing 900mb off of the NJ coast, what a useless model the past few days. Although I'm wondering if I get below sub 970 here. Looks like the low should go right over my head. SPC got caught flat footed in the mid Atlantic as well. What a crazy storm even though the effects were pedestrian at my location.

Yup. I've only been looking at the 12k for this system since yesterday for the NAM products. This thread from Jack Sillin yesterday is a good read on how the 3K is handling this system erroneously. GA and SC getting hammered right now as well, those are some FFW covering huge areas tonight.

3K NAM has a 930mb low SE of the cape. Toss that model as far as you can for this event...

36.5F here on the immediate coast with a wind driven mist. Walking the dog out on the beach wasn't pleasant and the two inches of snow on the ground this morning is already long gone. Wish I could at least rip some winds overnight into tomorrow but the setup doesn't look conductive for that either. What a monster moisture feed on satellite though!
