    So many variables and so much chaos. No wonder long term forecasting is hard. When we think we have it figured out, Mother Nature throws us a knuckle-curve.

    Yes. We started with freezing rain in Nashville that flipped to heavy sleet. After over an inch of sleet, we finally transitioned to and added about 4 inches of snow.

    Outside of March ‘93, February’98 is probably my favorite winter weather event. I lived just north of Cookeville at the time and remember snow mixing with the rain late afternoon and then changing to all snow by dark. An unexpected foot of snow is always nice.

    Yep. The wind is ripping and it’s snowing to beat the band.

    Someone in the right spot on the Plateau is going to approach a foot with this system.

    Moderate snow here on the Davidson/Wilson Co. line. Elevated surfaces turning white. Just beginning. Heavier returns moving in shortly.

    Dang! Little further west and middle TN might get some fringe action. Not likely but fun to watch. Might have to go visit the in-laws in Greeneville, TN…

    Wound up with a whopping 1/2 inch here on the Davidson/Wilson Co. line. Another degree colder locally through the column and I would have easily seen my 2nd 6+ event this year. Still, I’m sitting at 10” for the season which ain’t bad. Hopefully we’ll all be able to add to our totals the next 2-3 weeks.

    It’s amazing how far south the track of this storm has adjusted in the last couple of days. Regardless of whether or not I see snow IMBY, it’s fun to watch.

    It’s been puking snow here since just before 8am. We’ve picked up 1” in about 45 minutes.

    I haven’t looked at the soundings but is dry air going to be an issue? I hate virga storms....

    Sleet mixing with the rain here just east of Nashville.

    If we can hold on to a pattern that offers wintry potential for up to 3 weeks then I’d run with it. No matter which winter you select, “potential” is all you can ask for in the mid-south. I’d love for each winter to be a 1977 or 1978 or even a 1985 but those are pretty rare and we’re not back to those days climatology speaking. For most, 1 decent snowfall changes the perception of the winter as a whole. I’m just happy that we’re entering a stretch where we may have multiple opportunities.

    Light snow just started again in my neck of the woods. Based on radar trends, maybe another 1/2 inch?

    Been pouring the snow here just east of Nashville for close to an hour now. Hopefully we’ll get under some of those returns coming in from the SW as well.

    Some pretty fat flakes coming down now and starting to pick up on intensity.

    Yeah, finally getting some moderate snow here. Hopefully I'll get enough to insulate the sleet pack....

    People have no common sense. When it’s below freezing and there’s stuff falling from the sky, you slow the ef down.

    Stepped outside and the roads in my subdivision are already like a skating rink. Lots of freezing drizzle has been falling with a little bit of sleet mixed in.

    Yeah. It's been locked in for days. Right or wrong it's waffled less than about any other model. Hopefully it's not on crack.
