I wish I was in North Dakota right now

You're a true diehard.  Once we get nice days like this, I don't even want to think about snow until November or December.

    jersey got slammed

You're not kidding.  I had to pull over a couple of times on my way home.  The rain was coming down so hard that you could hardly see in front of you and there was no way to tell which lane of traffic you were in.  Vivid and frequent lightning also.

I'm a bit surprised that 11 straight non-playoff seasons is a record for the NHL.  I thought it would have been more for some reason.  I guess I'm thinking about other sports where not as many teams make it and you can go a long time between postseason appearances even if you're decent.  The NHL has always invited a lot of teams to the playoff party.  In the Original Six era, 4 out of the 6 teams made it.  16 out of 21 made it from the early 80's (post WHA merger) until the league began expanding again in the early 90's.  I think the Leafs made it one year in the 80's with almost 50 losses.

Kansas/UNC was one heck of a game. My roommate is a UNC fan, the poor guy. Even though I don't care for UNC, I really felt for him. You'd have to be emotionless to not be upset by that loss.

That's a rough one...and they were up by 16 in the first half.  Great run for them but when you're that close, it hurts when you can't close the deal.

As someone that works in this field, a great article. It's not going to be pretty, but I think what happened in 2008 will not happen this time around.

Everything just seems so out of whack.  Houses in my area that need a TON of work are going for $500-$600K.  Sellers are getting 100k or more over their asking price.  How long can that sustain itself?

Been dry as of late.  Haven't see a big gullywasher in the last month or so (except parts of LI/NJ)

Sounds like we could get some decent rains later today and tonight.

That’s a remarkable reduction!  It leads me to the same question, though.  Did all those people who were shooting and robbing others go get jobs and get straight?  Did a welfare check cover all their needs?  Were they all put in jail?  Or did enough of them get thrown in jail to chase many of them over to a different location with less severe consequences?

I should probably stop asking this question because it is going to lead to a political argument, but I am genuinely interested in an effective way to help people who are currently living “that life.”

Some of them can't be helped or don't want to be helped.  You look at the ones who have been in and out of jail their entire lives, arrested dozens of times for the same offense, etc. There comes a point where you have to assume that they simply don't give a damn.  To be fair, there are people who might have screwed up once and could turn things around with a second chance.  Do we make it too difficult for people to reacclimate to society after serving their sentence?

Many viewers have jumped ship.   Huge drop in TV ratings over the past 5-7 years from 40 mil viewers down to 10-15 mil

    -

The show drew an average of 15.3 million viewers for ABC on Sunday, according to early Nielsen numbers. That's a 56% increase from last year's show, the lowest-rated Oscars ever, which brought in just under 10 million viewers.
That's welcome news for the Academy and ABC, but Sunday's ratings was still the second-smallest audience for the show in history. Just eight years ago, the Oscars brought in more than 40 million viewers.

How deep into the show did the Will Smith incident take place?  I wonder if people rushed to tune in when word of that started going around on social media.  I'm sure it helped the numbers at least somewhat.

When 80% of the month is a torch then obviously.

It makes the odd cold islands even more memorable.

Exactly.  The cold scored a garbage time touchdown on a great play but is still losing by a substantial margin.

Tarheels baby! First ever tournament meeting between UNC and Duke.. This has been a great tournament so far, lots of upsets lol

I think this is what the NCAA likes to see.  Get some upsets in the earlier rounds but then still end up with Blue Bloods in the Final Four.  UNC/Duke, Kansas/Villanova.  The ratings should be excellent.

Great run for St. Peter's.  Looks like they just ran out of gas in the end.  Sometimes those Cinderella runs end with a thud like we saw yesterday.  Definitely got a lot of exposure for the school and it appears that Shaheen Holloway will have a shot at the Seton Hall job if he wants it.

There are some signs that April may end up being a lot warmer than some people think right now. I don’t think it ends up anything like last April. I also think we start torching in May

    I'm here for it.

It's not that bad. Tomorrow looks nice, we'll probably see more 70s after the Arctic shot.

Looks like an oscillating pattern into April.

Temps underperforming today though. Only mid 40s. Temps will almost always underperform in easterly flow events in March-May.

Hope so.  It's frustrating when you have to wait for the nice weather in the spring, especially when we were teased with such a great day last Friday.

NY baseball teams have some pull or money haha..

New York City mayor Eric Adams reportedly will reverse "the private-sector vaccine mandate specifically for performers and athletes" in New York City on Thursday, according to Sally Goldenberg of Politico.

That would mean that unvaccinated players like Kyrie Irving would once again be eligible to play home games in Brooklyn's Barclays Center, just in time for the upcoming NBA playoffs.

It would also mean that unvaccinated players on the New York Yankees and Mets would be eligible to play home games when the MLB season begins in April.

Adams is a clown.  Just a few days ago, he doubled down on the mandate and said that he wasn't concerned about athletes or fans.

I'd rather it be in the first week of April, those are the ones we remember.

My mother still talks about Easter Sunday 1970.  Her relatives from the Jersey Shore area had to cancel their plans to travel north for the holiday.  Think there was a good 6-8 inches of snow in North Jersey.  By the next afternoon, it was gone.

Lmao!  I love the internet.  Could be a good target for a young quarterback like Zach Wilson to have though.  Of course, it could go the other way if Hill throws fits when he's not getting the ball.

I'm going to need to buy one of those preview magazines this year to remind myself of everything that happened in the offseason.  The draft is still a month away and we're still over five months from the regular season opening.
