  1. I love the language in the point and click for Donner Pass. "Snow showers. The snow could be heavy at times" I would think if it will total 43 to 49 inches just overnight that it may be heavy at times. https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=39.3191&lon=-120.3285 This Afternoon Snow showers. The snow could be heavy at times. Widespread blowing snow. High near 29. Windy, with a southwest wind 28 to 31 mph, with gusts as high as 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 28 to 34 inches possible. Tonight Snow showers. The snow could be heavy at times. Widespread blowing snow. Low around 16. Wind chill values as low as -2. Windy, with a southwest wind around 38 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 43 to 49 inches possible.
  2. Lost power a couple of minutes after I got home. Between the fog being blown sideways taking vis to near zero, pelting rain, and awful mud ruts, and driving under the birch tree hanging 5 feet in the air across the whole road, the last 5 miles were about as scary a drive as I have done in years. By the time I reached the tree being held up by power lines, I was committed as the road is lined with birch and pines, the line was about to hit and I didn't know that I could get off the road if I didn't keep going.
  3. I stopped at the car wash on the commute this morning to beat the inevitable crowds later today. Good chance the fields next to 100 north of Stowe will be snow free by the end of the day today.
  4. Bill Murray needs to be superimposed on this somehow:
  5. a new inch as of my leaving house at 6:30
  6. My office is very close to the blue line and the totality should be around 3:30 according to the net. Just have to hope it is good weather.
  7. Measured 1.1 new when I got home. 3.1 for the event. Light fzn rn at the moment
  8. We got another inch before I left for work at 6:40. It was snowing at about an inch per hour rate so the roads were pretty well covered the first 45 minutes or so of the drive.
  9. snow most of the day here, 0.9 new
  10. 0.1 overnight. Pure fluff won't tax my back to clear.
  11. Just was outside standing under clear starlit skies without a coat on, I asked myself that eternal question "how much longer do I stand here while my labradors fail to find the tennis ball in the snow?"
  12. Whats odd to me is that I was living in central VT at the time and have no memory of that storm. I remember having a discussion with a friend at the time that they were having issues at their home because the snow was so deep their dogs kept walking over their stockade fence.
  13. 2.5 inches with the squalls here.
