BTV discussion update: https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=BTV&issuedby=BTV&product=AFD&format=CI&version=1&glossary=1 As of 1029 AM EDT Tuesday...Quiet and humid this morning. The main tweak has been to show increased confidence in the convection focused along the southern half of the state with increased PoPs and QPF down south. HREF probabilities indicate a reasonable chance of reaching at least an inch from a swath covering the Adirondacks east towards the southern Champlain Valley. The Storm Prediction Center has also bumped this area up to an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) due to almost every piece of guidance showing a large bowing segment crossing the Mohawk Valley and grazing the Adirondacks and south-central Vermont. We`ll continue to monitor the development of the thunderstorms out ahead of the vigorous shortwave. The amount of instability remains a question, but the shear will be present. Stay tuned.

https://www.wcax.com/2024/07/11/search-underway-lyndonville-driver-swept-away-floodwaters/ Lyndonville was one of the Vermont communities hit hard by flooding, and a search for a driver who was swept away in high water was underway at noontime. State officials said in a news briefing Thursday morning that water rescues are ongoing in Lyndonville and they said it was one of the hardest-hit areas in the state. Our Adam Sullivan said a search was underway at noontime for an elderly man who police say drove through high water on Center Street and was swept away. Crews are searching for him by boat and drone. The National Weather Service says the area got three to four inches of rain in town. Route 5 in town was left underwater.

Downtown looked fine. A few spots where the road was topped by stuff coming off the hillside. A house where there was an overwash a couple weeks ago did repairs to the yard last week. There was now a 2 to 3 foot deep channel through the same spot and large piles of stone and mud at the side of the road. Seemed to be the worst of it in town.
-
I just drove through town. 100 is open but is mud/ debris covered in spots where it overwashed. Streams seem to have receded out of the the fields. A number of main roads are shut.

I opened all the windows last night and used window fans for the first time in 2 years. Really got the fresh air into the house knowing the humidity would be up the next few days. Got the temp to a really nice level overnight and shut the windows up this morning when I got. Closed the blinds too for while I was at work. Got home and thought the house was warmer and stickier than I expected and then immediately saw the one window I had missed closing this morning. Grr. Still pretty comfortable, especially compared to outside.

It is so disgusting out. I was trying to get some plants in the ground and do other outdoor jobs but it is just so disgusting out and the bugs are crazy. Yesterday was perfect planting- cool -58 to 60, rainy enough to drive away the bugs but not enough to make it unworkable. This is just awful out there today. edit: two closest stations are 78/85 and 81/73. I just can't handle working outside in temps over 75 anymore thanks to living at 1200'+ in C and N VT for years.

Curious to see if the mesoscale remnants coming through NYS hit me later. It went through the midwest and Lakes and is still alive this morning. It may just miss home to the north. Free watering for the yard would be appreciated.
