  1. Yeesh! Somehow, that rapid panning in close-up is kinda creepy!!! LOL!
  2. True. It is a valid piece of current guidance that is used by NWS WFOs, not some off or old model that nobody uses.
  3. Yeah, looking a bit more closely there is some separation with the pumped-up PNA ridge where you could sneak a shortwave through. And I certainly wouldn't kick a clipper out of the sack either, LOL! Definitely would be cold. I was being a bit snarky with my "chilly" comment but it would be nice to have a couple of wintry feeling weeks (and not just cold/dry if we can manage it!).
  4. Trough might be a little too far east, but definitely a chilly look! Maybe clippers?
  5. Thank you!! The soft evening light really looks cool on a cold winter day, especially with snow.
  6. While I like color photos...there are times I find shots of snow look better in black and white!!
  7. Figured I'd put these here. Some photos of the snow yesterday...
  8. Hello there, Chill! I hope you are doing well these days. Anyhow...that's a good contrast you show there between yesterday's system and the potential for end of this week. As you say, not even close. All the same, I certainly won't be upset at 1-3" of cold powder late Thursday night into early Friday! The timing, regardless of exactly how much falls, is also going to be pretty bad in terms of traffic and commute.
  9. Yeah, was just joking of course, the comment that you might need a "welfare check" made me laugh so I had to make the obvious joke! And I totally agree with you. So many in the performing arts (classical and otherwise) have been really hit hard with COVID and venues having to be shut down. I hope that many of the companies (orchestra, ballet, opera, etc.) are able to survive somehow.
  10. Thanks for starting this. Yeah, it's about time even if it turns out "meh". Heck, we've had threads for far less potential so why not.
  11. @Maestrobjwa is receiving welfare checks?
  12. Merry Christmas to all!!! PSU...Nice tree and setup! I hope a couple of those gifts are a -NAO and +PNA!!! Is there also a Red Ryder BB gun hiding somewhere behind the tree?!?!
  13. This pretty well sums it up what I was thinking, too...thanks! I sure hope you are still collecting royalties for all the spinoffs! Gotta fund that retirement somehow...
  14. I know where you're coming from concerning the frustration. But my post was really only meant to add levity and some humor (since you mentioned the Panic Room). What good did that thread do? Who knows...I just found it amusing to laugh at my own and other's despair/frustration when there was a lack of snow or an otherwise sh*tty winter. I'm sure most everyone who posted in there had the same idea. Does that change anything? Of course not! But screw it, I like to keep a sense of humor regardless and I have a lot more concerns than whether it will be 60 degrees on Christmas. We obviously have no control over any of this except how we deal with it personally. Though to be sure, that doesn't necessarily make it any easier. If it's going to be a warm (and relatively snowless) winter, it would at least be nice to get rid of all the remaining gnats/mosquitos that I still see flying around here!
  15. Sadly, the venerable Reaper, @WxWatcher007, has retired and the Panic Room is no more. A relic of history. A savior of despairing snow weenie souls from a bygone era...
  16. Yeesh! Dafuq is going on in there? I can't even follow any of the lines. What, is it bouncing back and forth in Phase 7-8? (Maybe not a bad thing?)
  17. Well, if it dies you can just say "hosta" la vista, baby! (exiting stage right, avoiding the tomatoes thrown by the crowd!)
  18. Happy belated anniversary, Mappy!! I hope you are all well and having a good Holiday season!
  19. Congrats, WxWatcher!! All the best to you in your new life journey together. I'm very sorry to hear about your dad. Very frightening and stressful for sure; I remember when my dad had a heart attack and also underwent bypass surgery some years later. I hope your father will be OK and recover well.
