  1. I agree...Peets is some good coffee! Their Holiday blend is good too, if you ever had that during the season.
  2. Word on the ICON yet for later next week? If there's anything worthwhile still.
  3. @psuhoffman fringed by the top of that drawing, though.
  4. Wait. So you mean it was Beethoven who won the battle of New Orleans?? I'm so confused! Was that before or after Andrew Jackson wrote his 9th symphony?
  5. That's awesome, man! Congrats! Especially given how cold it was. And cool you're on Strava...I use that for my bike riding, though haven't done much of that in the past couple of months, LOL! I knew a couple of people who did marathons, hard core runners. I could never do that distance, certainly not my age right now. But years ago when I was in Atlanta, I did participate in the 10K Peachtree Road Race a few years (held on July 4 every year), which was actually fun!
  6. Forced to look at warm noses on a large screen for hours on end!!
  7. Yeah, I generally try to just scroll past the BS, and I don't have anyone on ignore either (though am getting sorely tempted at times lately!). I'm guilty too at times of replying or "getting into it" a little with some of the heated discussions. I had a post removed the other day, when I responded to a somewhat political comment. In hindsight, and even at the time, I thought I probably shouldn't have but figured what the heck, and I tried to word it reasonably. But it did get removed along with some others (including the one I responded to), and honestly I don't have a problem with that and sort of expected it. I sure don't feel "targeted" or whatever. I think nearly all of us do this up to a point, myself included. Sometimes I probably shouldn't but I don't go "overboard" on every single comment. And yeah, I'll make (as will many others) comments like "uh, oh...paging ravensrule!!" Hell, even Bob Chill said something the other week about some precipitation feature looking like "red horse schlong!" LOL, it did! But I know what you're saying...a little bit of the innuendo banter is funny, but not to where everything is viewed through that lens.
  8. I don't look forward to scraping nearly an inch of sleet off the car, but maybe by the time I get around to the task, it won't be a solid brick quite yet! Feels like walking on wet sand out there. And I hear you...sleet is about the worst thing to shovel.
  9. Thumbs up for the Monty Python Holy Grail clip!! All we need is @stormtracker to post his "It's good to be the king" meme from History of the World again!!
  10. Nothing but sleet here where I'm at, too. Since there was no snow, I now kinda wish we had really gotten a sleet bomb with banding and heavy rates, with 2-3" of ball bearings accumulating. That would have been something to experience! As it is, maybe close to 1" total, but it did cover everything.
  11. Sometimes the obs thread seems the same as the banter thread which seems the same as the obs thread!
  12. Sigh...whelp, back to the longer range mindset now! On to the ensembles and various other globals. Until anything gets into NAM range, of course!
  13. Yup. I was hopeful for some good snow rates at least for a little while before flipping, but woke up to nothing but sleet from beginning. But...at least it might be cool to experience a bit of a "sleet bomb" if some heavier rates come through, and then turn that into a block of ice!
  14. Yeah, and some were the same people who were all freaking out yesterday that the models looked like they were getting "too dry" for them, etc. But whatever. I don't mind too much seeing the photos and seeing some reports though. I was surprised, honestly, to wake up to nothing but sleet. I really thought we should get a few hours of good snow before flipping, but I don't think I've even seen a flake here thus far. Sleet hasn't been overly heavy, but at times I can definitely hear it hitting the windows, and there's a decent coating. I'm not even sure if we'll see a "sleet bomb" and a 2" layer of concrete. Is what it is, I suppose. I'm actually a bit worried about ice later on (freezing rain), so will see how that evolves.
  15. Well, at least your phone is fully charged!
  16. So...I suppose all banter is a gift then!!
  17. Notably wetter than 18Z, if I recall correctly?
  18. I have no clue what the F he's talking about. But apparently you're an aviator??
  19. PSA: Divide by 2.54 to get 'Murcan units!!
  20. The back edge of your refrigerator??
  21. Thanks for this. And my apologies for stepping into the "fray" with my response a little earlier. Probably shouldn't have done so. Anyhow, totally agree with you here. Especially about Ji's posts! LOL!
  22. The NAM took our snow away, that's what went wrong!
  23. I thought we have been since 00Z last night!!
  24. A couple of photos of the sky late this afternoon and early this evening (note the moon visible in the 1st one)...
