  1. I’ve got a good feeling about this event. I’m not a met, just a hobbyist like most of us, but something in me says that the NAM verifies.
  2. 18z NAM will be telling IMO. I feel like this is the run where it either sticks or completely folds.
  3. The NAM has its flaws, but I think it's ironic to see it written off by so many mets. The two minor events that have occurred so far in W NC, NW SC and parts of Georgia were nailed by the NAM, days in advance. It's had solid footing this year. Also, as someone living in western NC, I have a hard time buying dry solutions - everything has overachieved in qpf this winter.
  4. Noticed that as well. Also noticed that the snow totals seem very low given the temps, time of day and simulated radar.
  5. I've felt like for days that the models were poorly handling the precip shield. If it's anything like every other system that's passed through during the last year, it'll overachieve on qpf and cover a lot of ground. Time will tell.
  6. We had multiple road closures around Burke during the last storm and I expect nothing different this time. I hate to be the person that seems like they're wishing for a drought, but we could really use an extended dry period or heck, maybe a rain storm that doesn't drop 3+ inches every time.
  7. Reminds me of early June this past year. Ugly isn't the word for it. It's been a torrential downpour in my area since 2-3 a.m. There hasn't been a single moment where I'd say the rain has been "light" since that point.
  8. I want to apologize for the last two winters. I think I jinxed our chances last December during the big one. I joked with people after the storm that we had received enough snow for two years. Welp - super ironic now.
  9. Someone help me out here: can anyone remember the last time western North Carolina had a rain that didn’t amount to 3+ inches? I’m exaggerating of course, but geez the forecast after mid-week. Forget snow, I just want us to get a week of no rain.
  10. Glad you enjoyed it! Honestly the whole western half of the state has a lot to offer. If you ever get the opportunity, pick a nice day and ride the Blue Ridge parkway from the southern most starting point to Watauga County. You won’t regret it.
  11. Rates picked up tremendously - the type of rates that can overcome temps above freezing. What a surprise to save the season!
  12. The NAM is on an island, but there's always merit to any model that sticks to its guns for 3-4+ days straight. I hope you guys are able to cash in!
  13. I think the most depressing part of this winter has less to do with the lack of physical storms themselves and more to do with the lack of being able to geek out, track storms, losing sleep for model runs, and watching these threads blow up. Such a deflating season, because most of this board disappears until November. I just hate that the odds of tracking something fun are so low at this point.
  14. I’ll get roasted for saying this - and that’s fine, but I wish we’d get at least a minor drought. WNC is becoming Seattle south. We can’t string together more than 2 dry days a week and when it rains, it rains 2+ inches every time. My yard is muck.
