  1. Based on the pattern, I think that 20th timeframe is going to bare the most watching. The 16th still could surprise us. If we don’t score off of that potential, we’re on to February.
  2. Shout out to our crew. We’ve made the hot light come on 4 times this week without a single threat to track. Just imagine what we’d do with a storm.
  3. Honestly, I don’t hate that look. A slight jog south or east and many would be in the game.
  4. Closing in on 4 inches. @wncsnow was right with the over 3.5 call
  5. 321 Northbound coming into Caldwell county from Catawba
  6. Regardless of whether or not the winds with the main part of the system materialize, I’m concerned about tonight when they pick up from the frontal passage. It truly won’t take much to topple trees after this deluge. 30-40 mph will be more than adequate.
  7. Everything is coming out of its banks in Caldwell County
  8. Is anyone experiencing high winds yet? Almost calm here
  9. I’m downstream on lake hickory and I’ve already seen some dangerous currents and big debris. The lake was lowered a bit this week but it’ll be ripping over the dam soon if it’s not already.
  10. Now over 2 inches and the pressure has dropped to 1002 Mb
  11. Seems like there would be a lot of moisture available upstream for the event. Fwiw, the short range models are rather convective looking later tonight and even have some snow showers breaking containment into the foothills.
  12. I love the over for me. 1.10 so far in southern Caldwell County and we’re just getting started!
  13. Damage reports are coming in from northern Alabama. They’re not even close to the main convective line yet.
  14. For good vibes: the 2014 snow! Our pup loved that one and it cleared his head at the time easily. Lost him last year unfortunately but he saw several good ones in his life.
  15. Oh don’t get me wrong. I’m not angry at all and hope it doesn’t come across that way. I just love winter weather so much that when it lets me down I get crushed. Don’t worry though, I’m very well-equipped to handle the disappointment. I’ve been a panthers fan my whole life.
  16. I lived in Mount Airy during that 2014 storm. Almost 20 inches of snow. I’ve seen absolutely nothing else like it in my life! I’ll never forget that event.
  17. I’m not going to lie. I’m a big seasonal guy so if we get to the end of February with nothing, I’ll be rooting for a torch and a mercifully fast spring and not an extended winter. I know March snow is always on the table but it just doesn’t hit the soul the same. So with that being said, my hopes will ride for about a month and a half more and then it’s on to fishing, severe weather tracking and boating.
  18. I hope so Met. I’m getting down in the dumps and trying to stay positive lol
  19. Ain’t gonna lie yall. I’ll be happy for the TN Valley forum but I’ll throw up seeing that much snow west of the apps knowing how close it was. Guess I better get the bag ready.
  20. Many in western NC are closed as well. Probably a good call with high winds and flooding. It just isn’t worth it.
  21. There’s a lot of well-versed folks on the Tennessee Valley sub that do believe it’ll trend further south and east.
