  1. So to summarize: Lot of cold over the next 10 days…interrupted by a real warm cutter….Wouldnt be Dec without 55 and rain after all...and a nice mild finish to the month. Sounds like a snowless December to me. Nice
  2. December’s have warmed dramatically, but let’s not pretend that highs in the teens or lows in the single digits were normal in December at any point. that was extreme even 30 years ago. The problem here is something that blue wave has pointed to. At least for new normals our December is gonna be pretty average… but these storms seem to keep cutting west of us and allowing warm air to come every time precipitation arrives. If we had snow yesterday and three days in the 30s, you would say what a December this is. But we had rain yesterday and three days in the 30s and then we’re gonna have rain again over the weekend and more cold day behind it. This is a pattern that’s been in place for at least 10 years now. It’s a big problem if you want snow. it was masked in the 2010s because we kept getting these one off big storms that made a month or winter.
  3. Which is a win temp wise…but this pattern doesnt seem to support any snow
  4. this is like a thread in search of a storm haha. All kidding aside just some light rain here in Westchester every now and then a heavy downpour, but it’s nothing too crazy. Certainly no wind at all.
  5. It was modeled well over a week ago. Guys trying to manufacture a westward movement backing in from coast for a 4 inch rain storm.
  6. looks like it will get bigger over the next few days, huh? Don’t know about that pattern change though…haha
  7. actually, looks like we’ll be one of the cooler parts of the country if you believe that graphic. that said, same pattern in place for years now: two days of cold, then immediate moderation, than real warm when the storm comes. and repeat. Any extended cold…like this last week…is dry
  8. Just to check your ridiculousness it’s December 9
  9. You can predict snowfall opportunities for the next 23 days?
  10. i get the kids in car at 8 am on a Sunday. We drive down and do the radio city/tree/st pats/window loop. no one there. couldnt be nicer
  11. Only you are looking for rain in December. We got enough rain to put out immediate threats. Let’s hope it stays well off shore
  12. A lot of warmth on 11th. Dont think it is that close As for flip to colder/snowier at the end of the month, I like history. history shows that if December is a gutter ball for a La Niña, the winter is fucked. 12/8-12/15 look AN. Sometimes by a lot
  13. I was in Manhattan walking around seeing the tree. It was a good storm, but it never panned out to what they said. Snow was very wet as early Dec storms usually are
  14. funny…up by the school, the ground is covered in white. It needed a little bit more elevation for this to work if you had slower rates of precip
  15. I’m well north of you and I have nothing. Wasn’t even close for you. still mid 30s everywhere which means you had to be well north and west or have a heavy burst of snow (which explains the Long Island)
  16. Ill eat crow on this one. Not even a flake. Nice big warm up coming thru past mid month. Another warm, snowless first 2/3 December to remember in NYC.
  17. Well, in 20 years we can find out. But at present and short-term look back, it feels like that
  18. and it was an aberration even then
  19. actually, historically speaking that’s before the third week of November. Snow when we had it in November and onward is actually a very good sign… historically that is.
  20. night outside city should be good
  21. isn’t it supposed to snow on Wednesday night?
  22. What a miserable freaking sub forum this has become. Even in extended BN conditions, the same few guys are an utter misery about a pattern change 3 weeks from now. Maybe those guys should slap on a pair of skis or go ice skating or jump into the Hudson and tell us how warm it is Enjoy the winter weather boys. It is, after all, December
  23. You go for the balloons…not the C listers haha
