I think the non linear factors such as the Pacific effecting the jetstream which affects storm track really threw the bigger storm/more moisture overriding warmer winter equation out the window. The whole process is getting messed up and it is a net negative for average snowfall

No real wild predictions here. If you want snow in NYC in March, you are looking at the first three weeks. Week 1 looks cold and snowy. Week 2 looks a bit AN. Once you get to week 3 and 4 the clock runs out on the game. Then of course there is the freak April storm… and this seems like the type of year where something like that could happen

just an observation I just left Westchester to come down to work in Queens. And I made a stop in Whitestone to shovel my parents. It is not even close in terms of snow. I don’t know where many of these measurements were made down in the city. I’m assuming on large grassy areas. Because the snow lying around on the streets of Queens is a fraction, a small fraction of what we have 10 miles north of the Bronx. I saw Whitestone reported 23 inches of snow. I’ve been in Whitestone with a 2 foot storm, and this isnt it. just for reference in the photo below, that’s what people in Westchester are dealing with right now. i’m sure I on Long Island the scenes are similar.

That was an awful and scary winter. +15 Dec. First freeze January. Highest snowfall ever in one storm mid Jan…all gone within a week. And a few days here and there of 0 degree weather followed by more extreme warmth. I call 2015-2016 the post apocalyptic winter. Actually unnerving

No reason it cant be open. Look at your street. This is a quick melter on blacktop. If they were a normal, smaller district, a 2 hour delay would be appropriate

Correct. 2016 was much longer and the cars were buried. I have never seen snow like that in my life

Horse and buggy in garage. Im sitting standby in firehouse. Nuts outside. Braking much worse than last storm as it is wetter snow

Most of us ended up around 15 inches with that one. Lets see how this shakes out

One thing that has me worried is the warmth and almost march like quality to this storm so far. It has been snowing since I woke up with grass still showing. Not saying this is the case for this storm, but in my experience in NY area, great storms dont look or feel this way at start

A bit of govt overreach in the post covid world, but then I keep seeing these idiots clogging major roads in sedans stuck in 6 inches of snow and I guess you have to go with the lowest common denominator. Sad world

There is a temperature/snowfall rate equation that needs to be balanced here. Especially in daytime. Especially for those of us with snow still on the ground
