D would have been the grade had NYC stayed under 10 inches of snow. It's safely in C- territory now and should get to C for NYC with the next storm. It can get to B with another storm later in the month.
-
Not offhand but I remember it was the second highest winter storm liquid equivalent in the city's history (after February 1920)-- now replaced by January 2016.
-
Thanks Tony, do you have one for February 1961 too?
-
same with February 1961 when JFK had 24.1 inches I think?
-
well, going by liquid equivalent is more reliable, February 1961 was 2.75 inches of liquid and 24.1 inches of snow at JFK.
-
so we mild up for spring at the beginning of March?
-
Central Park was undermeasuring back then too, both JFK and LGA got 20 inches in the Lindsey storm.
-
to be fair, last February JFK had a 4 inch snowstorm followed by a 6 inch snowstorm a few days later
-
Was there a snowfall total update? JFK snow amount updated to 3.4"....
-
I find the south shore gets more snow in el ninos, especially strong ones. Most of our 20"+ events here came in strong el ninos
-
JFK is usually the lowest only in mixed storms, in all snow event noreasters it's usually the highest (Feb 83, PD2, Jan 2016). LGA is in a commercial area and usually hotter than the others
-
3-5 is much more likely based on the speed of the northern stream. There will no 8 inch amounts from this storm ANYWHERE just like there were none from the last storm ANYWHERE either.

https://x.com/rawsalerts/status/1888291077746020626 NASA officials now report a 2.4% chance of an asteroid striking Earth in 2032, up from 2.3% few days ago. This equates to a 1 in 42 chance of impact, with a 97.6% likelihood that the asteroid will miss. The asteroid is estimated to be between 130 and 330 feet in diameter.
