  1. January will end up at least +5, December was AN. Unless February is -6, winter will be warmer than normal.

  5. Northern LI right on the edge here, 1-3" is a good forecast right now north of the LIE. Euro may be a bit aggressive on the 3.5"+
  6. You have had a good year, agreed. Its only January 16 though.
  7. To be fair, everyone busted last winter, @PB-99 included. Hell @earthlightand others called for this December and January to rock this year. In the end of the day it is weather, we cannot control it, we can just try to predict it. Arrogance has no place in it, as everyone on here has busted big time.
  8. Yup. Drier air leads to more extreme temperatures. The warming oceans have pumped moisture into the atmosphere so our extreme highs are all the more impressive and lows hard to come by.
  9. the dustbowl really ****ed up the weather for years, the country was so incredibly dry. Dry air is easier to BOTH heat and cool, making extremes more likely. Now, we have higher moisture content and extremes, so in reality, our current extremes in terms of heat content are greater.
  10. Yes, in 170 years of record keeping there have been 5 warmer years, and two of them were from before 1950. Three of the 6 (including this year), were in the past 22 years (1998, 2007, 2019). The prior years were 1907, 1932 and 1950. Essentially, in the 148 years before 1998, there were 3 warmer years, and in the 22 years since, there were 3 years in the top 6. This is all dumb anyway, as the earth has warmed only 1 degree C since 1850, so you will still have great extremes, cold and warm. -5, becomes -3, which is still pretty ****ing cold. Nothing dumber than "it snowed last week, global warming is a hoax"
  11. Wow. Has to be one of the warmest first 2 weeks of January. @donsutherland1 any stats on this? This seems historic
  12. What are we for January, +15? Incredible warmth continues, low was only 41 last night

  14. Some well known posters here and elsewhere were claiming in early December that December to January was going to rock. Clearly blown forecasts, but these certain individuals are untouchable so nobody challenges them.
  15. Those posts were all great..."not alot of tree damage" ...cue 2-3 weeks with no power area wide due to the massive tree damage. Guy is wrong every season, every year
  16. I made 60 yesterday. Islip is 1 degree away from it’s all time January high temp
