Not sure what to tell you man, every single airport gusted much higher than 41...I'll go with the ASOS over your jerry rigged wind meter lol. ISP gusted to 61, and FRG 51. Your 41 is off. Get a new anemometer.
poster on another board in Lindenhurst reported a gust of 62, and frequent gusts to high 50s. Home annenometers are often inaccurate for obvious reasons. Most of Nassau and suffolk gusted 50-60, higher in suffolk.
17,000 without power on LI.
I forecasted gust of 62 at ISP, they hit 61. Pretty solid forecast by me. City west was never supposed to see high winds. its predictable that some posters cry when they miss out.
Note that islip airport is well inland from the water, unlike JFK. So those gusts are representative of what we are seeing. We are consistently in the 55 mph range, with a few around 60
Take a time out. Did you see the reports from Rockland and Westchester, gusts to the mid 60s. Bridgeport gusts to 61.
Seriously, give it a rest. How about you show max gusts from areas further north?
Definitely gusting to 50 now, sustained winds probably around 25-30 now. No tree damage to speak of, and only 4000 power outages on the island. Good thing this event is coming right before leaf out
