  1. From a weather perspective both Brooklyn and queens have shorelines susceptible to severe coastal flooding and often get the same high winds as Nassau and Suffolk. JFK often gusts just as high as the ASOS sites on the island. Southern queens and Brooklyn also suffered severe flooding in sandy, etc. so for weather purposes Brooklyn and queens are often lumped in with the island
  2. 8 million people live on Long Island…only 9 million live in the entire state of NJ. It’s a high impact event for millions of people.
  3. 55 is not really a big deal for the island anymore. The last event had numerous gusts to 55 with soaked ground and there were only minimal impacts. Once gusts hit 60 things go down hill fast, but I am skeptical that occurs away from the beaches and ridge tops
  4. The sound will drop into the 30s over the next month so its negative impact will decrease a bit heading into peak climo. by February/march the sound is a net positive for the island, as it enhances snow on the backside/CCB of storms. @NorthShoreWxis a big time beneficiary of this.
  5. Yup. As everyone has said, late January to mid February is our time. Universal agreement across the board about that.
  6. Was -4 in 2018 on this date out here. Haven’t seen anything close in a while. Doubt we see single digits this winter
