Estimates now that the Suffolk floods caused more than $100 million in damage. Glad to see a federal disaster declared so the area can be repaired and renewed.

Gotta say, overall this has been an incredible summer weather wise. Not many washout weekends and plenty of days in the 80s with sun. Brutal stretch in July, but August has been a delight

Agreed lots of flooded basements. Don’t get me wrong, the road flooding was severe around here. We were pretty much cutoff in all directions from my neighborhood. Every main road closed down. But houses weren’t washed away, entire neighborhoods for the most part weren’t under water like you see in PA, VT.

One good thing about Long Island is the lack of any major rivers and fresh water flood zones. All things considered Suffolk handled 8-10” of rain without any major issues. Yes, some washed out roads but not crazy issues like when CT or Vt get 10” of rain.
