  1. Estimates now that the Suffolk floods caused more than $100 million in damage. Glad to see a federal disaster declared so the area can be repaired and renewed.
  2. Quick 1/2” of rain. Typical summertime thunderstorm
  3. Pouring with some wind and thunder, no hail yet
  4. Spoke too soon. About to get whacked here. Storms exploding overhead
  5. Can hear the thunder from the storms to my east. Looks like I’ll get hit as the line expands west, but nothing too bad
  6. 86 today. Another perfect day on the water. A bit more of a breeze than Friday and Saturday but still top 10
  7. Gotta say, overall this has been an incredible summer weather wise. Not many washout weekends and plenty of days in the 80s with sun. Brutal stretch in July, but August has been a delight
  8. 84 today from 59 in the morning. Just perfect. Fishing wasn’t great today, only a few shorts. Otherwise top 5 day.
  9. 83 today. Beautiful evening on the water. It’s been an incredible boating season
  10. Lots of thunder with those storms riding the north shore again. Non stop up there.
  11. Flash flood warning for northern Suffolk. Wild
  12. Loud thunder here with the approaching storm. Here we go again
  13. Agreed lots of flooded basements. Don’t get me wrong, the road flooding was severe around here. We were pretty much cutoff in all directions from my neighborhood. Every main road closed down. But houses weren’t washed away, entire neighborhoods for the most part weren’t under water like you see in PA, VT.
  14. One good thing about Long Island is the lack of any major rivers and fresh water flood zones. All things considered Suffolk handled 8-10” of rain without any major issues. Yes, some washed out roads but not crazy issues like when CT or Vt get 10” of rain.
  15. 6.15” storm total here. Wild night. Sad to see the damage in the stonybrook/Port Jeff area. Per news12 a house collapsed and has been condemned.
  16. Never seen the LIE closed due to flooding out here before. Wild to see these reports.
  17. 6.05” storm event 3.70” in the last 2 hours back edge here, probably add another 0.25” but won’t get to 7”
  18. Port Jeff is definitely underwater. up to 5.06” here. High end event weve had 2.71”’ in the last 90 minutes
  19. Getting absolutely crushed here. Cannot even describe it. Relentless lightning. 4.5”
  20. FLASH FLOOD EMERGENCY for Suffolk county. Never seen it before. Up to 4.17” and pounding
