Sigh... Can I ask to lower excitement. Think of yourselves in the cockpit of a 737 and you blow out a door. Composure wins... good learning experience for those up and coming in life to maintain vigilance, follow procedures and ensembled guidance for a safer approach both work and family, an approach that can be at least a partial win for the large adjunct Atlantic Ocean subforum and subsequently a more positive outcome. Yesterdays CNN has details of the Cockpit Voice Recorder on how that 737 door incident was handled. Calm-procedural. For me that will have to be ensembled and remember the Canadian has to have it (my relearned lesson AGAIN the past failed thread)
Modeling for the 06z/7 GFS op doesn't fit the ensembled short wave scenario (intensity and therefor big dump in a few hours). If the resulting storm is weaker, less advection fields, less lift, etc etc. Give this a chance. Ptype and T at D6 can be a little shaky and for snow, its a fine line, as we all know.
On snow depth: That's all that was available for the smaller geography shown but we have none now, so consider that a start for adding some snow. Back tonight.

It's interesting Don, we never heard the term "atmospheric river" back in the 80s, 90s, 00s, or even the 10s.... it only started being commonly used now. In previous decades we used to just call them Pacific coastal lows.... why is this term being used more frequently now and why don't we use this term for Atlantic coastal lows too?
the phrase global warming suddenly becoming climate change is interesting

Well at least as of right now we have something to look at and track,,,,,,,,,60's and rain does not do it for me in Jan and Feb so give me this look even if it is 4 plus days away and I will take it !

PNA is rising . Good chance we might see some snow.

Anthony I admire your spunk and I hope you are correct

I am looking at the radar but hard to tell how far north those heavier bands are actually getting,,,,,,anyone know the answer ? BTW once it began it never stopped snowing here in New City and it is just now starting to stick on surfaces that were treated / in the street on the blacktop

i mean its a good steady light snow, if we can continue this for a few hours hopefully we can squeeze an inch out of it? not expecting that even but sure would be nice to see a refresher on the ground.

What streak are the metro people now trying to break? The bogus 1 inch streak was already broken. Are we now onto the two inch streak?
I believe he was referring to YES the 2 inch streak

Those darker " red " colors are getting awfully close to my area on the radar = safe to say pleasantly surprised as light snow is still falling in New City with an encouraging looking radar " thus far "

Yeah I agree I wasn’t expecting anything prior to 11am… maybe just maybe a positive bust! RH is at 70% which isn’t too bad. 27/20
Maybe one of the more knowledgeable fellows or ladies can chime in on why I am seeing lite snow 20 miles North of the GW Bridge right now and again snow flakes are falling here
-
I don't want to start any trouble but I myself did not expect to see flakes falling here in New City as they currently are right now at 830am. I have been watching the radar and I thought for sure I was looking at virga but light snow is falling in New City outside my window ,,,,,that is all

I think this one is about done, especially for anyone North of Rt 80. Areas near I-78 and points South look good. Maybe Southern Brooklyn, SI, and parts of Queens will do decently.
I dunno about that NJw but I guess we will know soon enough
