    Like SyrMax said, if we are going to have well BN snowfall this season, might as well take it into the gutter and have some sizzle. Still safely ahead of the least snowiest winter of 2015-16 around here so far, but this slow start and a balmy December has me liking the odds of atleast a top 10 BN snowfall for BGM... possibly other sites as well.

    Maybe so, but those that called for a early start/front-end loaded winter can enjoy their crow. Looks like December will be another dud unless there is a big 4th quarter comeback the week of Christmas.

    Yeah unfortunately some of the more rural parts of the state will probably continue to lag behind due to lack of utilities, high speed internet etc.

    Well said. And with Covid dramatically changing how the world does business and speeding up the transition to e-commerce and telecommuting, the Upstate region stands to benefit significantly and I could definitely see many areas of Upstate transitioning to a knowledge-based economy going forward given our relatively low cost of living along with the other factors you mentioned.

    The energy for the mid week storm is still over the Pacific right now so expect alot of model volatility unfortunately. Giving it til early Monday before writing it off but it doesn't look good.

    Not asking for constant cold and snow in late November, but a decent storm of 3-6+ sometime during the month of November would be nice once in a while. This is pathetic...

    Yeah, not unreasonable at all. Just looked at all of the 5 major upstate hubs, and all 5 are running at least 50% below normal snowfall so far YTD, with ROC the furthest behind percentage wise. Luckily we are still early enough that one good storm could put any of the sites back on track, but if December ends up being another dud, it may be time to hit the panic button.

    Yep... had a feeling BGM would pay dearly for that epic 4 footer last year and thus far things aren't looking good this year. Hopefully Buf, Roc, and Syr atleast get some decent LES events this year.

    Some nice whiteout conditions down here this morning. About 1 inch so far. Road is covered.

    Yeah... still not seeing much to get excited about for those of us outside the lake belts. Definitely seems like most of us will be heading into December facing an early deficit. Still waiting for the last of my leaves to fall so I can rake and be done.

    Saw that warning pop up on my phone for eastern Broome. The scanner was busy with tree and wire down calls in that area around that time frame. Wonder if NWS will investigate further.

    Euro has a nice wave for the Catskills and ADK regions Saturday night. Seems to be on an island though and temps are marginal.
