MRX’s last disco before the Christmas Eve event they literally said they would lean on the SREF for their accumulation forecast when it was the obvious rogue model. They came back the next day with something even more ridiculous. They said the official amount at TYS was 2” even though they said there was at least 3-4” on the ground but some had melted off. .
One thing we’ve always agreed on though, is that you don’t want to be the bullseye 5-10 days out. Hopefully this doesn’t pan out for anyone but it’s not a good look at this point. .
Something I was thinking about.... with the overcast sky and temps in the valley running behind schedule, I’m wondering if the mods are picking up on surface temps getting trapped in the valley and staying below what the mods were saying? .
MRX mentioned an inverted trough up the valley. If that is correct I can see the extra forcing helping with dynamic cooling. If that’s the case I can see this potentially busting on the high side. .
