  1. I went to this area and and found multiple telephone poles and huge trees down in Ft City at Gresham Middle school. However I believe there’s damage that no one has found or reported yet because there was a CC drop for one frame close to that area. However CC drops are usually one frame or 5 min behind. So if you back the radar up one frame, Black Oak Ridge is where the storm was located one frame before and it’s probably 400-500 feet above the valley floor. This is about the time the couplet upticked for a frame or two. I think the funnel was just off the ground most of the time and was bouncing off the tops of ridges right before it got to downtown.
  2. Bro…. sorry i haven’t checked in on you after the storms. You and your family ok? My FIL has been sick and that’s taken all our time.
  3. I still can’t get links right.

  5. Gonna be a wild February…. Severe weather one day, NW flow the next.
  6. Lots of snow showers floating around this morning/afternoon
  7. Haven’t seen this mentioned recently because of the cold and a little snow but it’s getting kinda dry again. Last thing we need is to head into warmer months without a surplus in the rain gauge.
  8. Seems like the last 15+ years during the winter there’s been multiple severe events in dixie but the last two have been really quiet. A lot of people thought 2024 fall would be active but it was relatively quiet for the majority.
  9. 2” per hour rates moving into SW Alabama
  10. I know you are good with dates (not talking about women lol)… was it 2017 when areas south of Chattanooga scored a couple of times when Tennessee was cold and dry?
  11. Starting to think if we don’t score something this coming weekend, we are probably going to fall back into a normal winter pattern where luck and timing is the main factor for getting snow. By no means am I kicking winter, I’m not that guy but losing this pattern will obviously make it more challenging to score. (FYI I’m speaking of the valley around Knoxville. Obviously the higher elevations, especially above 2500ft, don’t have the challenges we have).

  13. How was it colder, or as cold in Chattanooga than Johnson City? Wind blowing maybe?
  14. I also noticed the SW part of the country is warmer and dryer than normal. This could contribute to a better EML or it could be to strong and cap Dixie off later spring into early summer.
  15. glad you started this thread. I love winter and lots of snow but severe stands my neck hair up. However I’m thankful ETn is typically on the outside looking in. I’ve added mountain waves to my bucket list. I’d really like to take a day trip to Camp Creek. Cove Mt in Wears Valley is another great spot but 80+ mph winds in the GSM turns me off a little. lol…
  16. look at this… my church is rebuilding a community up there near Erwin called “Bumpus Cove” with no costs to the community. https://clearspringsbaptist.net/events-1/bumpus-cove-campaign/bumpus-cove-campaign-hurrican-helene-relief
  17. I don’t know who needs to read this but God laid this on me to share with what happened at my church this morning. I know we do the weather here but some things are more important. Feel free to share with friends and family. Clear Springs Baptist Church in Gibbs/Corryton just a little NE of Knoxville. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10233279406020553&id=1034276361
  18. This right here up towards @John1122is actually moving towards me. If I can get some training setup i might pick up a quick 1”…
  19. However ATM I’m in a pixie dust storm. 1/4 mile visibility. Looks like what I’ve seen during these events in a cabin up above Wears Valley.
  20. I’m in a terrible spot for NW flow. Down sloping off of Anderson Co kills me unless we have a good deal of low level moisture.
