Fall/Winter Banter - Football, Basketball, Snowball?
PowellVolz replied to John1122's topic in Tennessee Valley
Laid preemerg last week and my lawn is quickly greening up and starting to grow. I’ll probably make my first cut since Christmas Eve in the next day or two. . -
Just started at my house with rain and sleet but now it’s snow and sleet .

Now it’s mixed with snow 39 degrees .

Man it’s pouring the sleet at my house .
-
Just a small picture but it goes from N to S as far as I can see. .
-
The back edge of the cloud deck looks like a shelf or roll cloud. Guess that’s CAA pushing in, kinda cool looking. .

There was some decent winds with this as it moved though my area this morning, est around 40ish. Lots of limbs down and you can see a few frames later it “outflowed” it’s self. .

ULL comes in handy this time of year .
-
We have a winner .

I think winter is probably about over for those not in elevation. .

Went out to start my Jeep at 6:15 and it was snowing. I’m on the east side of Knox Co now and there’s a sleet shower. Pretty good one too. .
-
Man the wind is absolutely ripping it. .

I was driving through there when he was riding that down 1st creek. February 2011 was when the worst flash flooding I’ve ever seen hit Knoxville. .

“As noted above, very strong shear -- with south-southwesterly 850 mb winds in excess of 50 to 60 kt increasing to west-southwesterly at 70 to 90 kt at mid levels -- is suggestive of supercells, and attendant risk for damaging winds and several -- and possibly locally strong/damaging -- tornadoes. As such, an upgrade to enhanced risk is being introduced, centered across the Tennessee Valley area from late afternoon through the evening hours” .

I agree. Once we get into March I’m thinking about spring, lawn, landscaping and outside projects. Lots of golf but we typically play 12 months of the year. .
-
Some snow showers moving in. Looks like @John1122 is getting a good one right now .
-
It seems like anymore you copy that 15% area and use it over and over again for 8 months of the year. .
-
Yo-yo season has started. 65 today, 45 Sunday, 65 Wednesday, 50 Saturday. .
-
That’s like a couple hundred miles or something. Definitely worth watching .

Maybe we can sneak something in under the trough. A .25-.50 qpf can have a high output in a cold dry column. .
-
I’m headed home from work and I see the same thing on the ridge tops just north of my house. .

I didn’t know you were a course superintendent. That’s awesome. I worked at a course in Knoxville for 7 years just on Saturday morning cutting cups and mowing greens. I don’t think there’s a colder job than mowing greens in late fall, early spring. .
