    Because of how cold this airmass is, IMO there’s a 50% chance the outcome hasn’t even been modeled yet. Mods really struggle with air this cold and a active pattern. .

    Going to be a lot of back and forth until we get to around Tuesday. Will be interesting to see what that first NAM run looks like also. .

    I mentioned something about that earlier today from March. I also remember the GFS was really close in the 7-10 day range, kinda lost it or started jumping around for 48 hours and then it settled back in with what it was showing in the 7-10 day frame. I don’t remember much about the CMC but the Euro was pretty wild until about 4 days out when it came to the GFS. Both mods made minor adjustments inside d5 but they pretty well settled in enough that we knew a storm in the south was likely. .

    You can basically take our last rain maker and turn it into snow. .

    Absolutely… I’m confident it will get really cold and I’m sorta confident there will be a system somewhere but I won’t feel good about it for 4 more days. .

    Something I was thinking about…. It’s been a good while since we have seen a cold outbreak this strong, maybe 10 years or something. My point is most of these mods have been upgraded at least once since the last time we saw cold weather being mod like this. I’d say some of the adjustments made were minor but we don’t really know how the mods will handle the cold until we see it. .

    It’s a big if but if we get a significant snow, it will be nice knowing we won’t have to worry about it being 70 degrees for a week the day before it snows. .

    It’s crazy how places that see feet of snow each year doesn’t have a GOM to feed them but when it gets in the 20’s here it’s too cold and dry. Canada has DP’s in the single digits with a ongoing blizzard. .

    Where are you living now? After you cross Black Oak Ridge into Halls for whatever reason it’s like going into a different county. I’m on Emory close to the HS behind CVS. It’s on average 7-8° colder at my house than in Knoxville. .

    This is incredible footage from yesterday…. Drones have completely changed the way chasers chase Dixie. They don’t have to get right on top of them anymore. .

    I had 6.5” at my house and just a few miles down the road had 2-3”. Crazy stuff but that’s how it is living in Knox Co. .

    While that season was epic for ETn, it was extremely frustrating for Knoxville. We where probably 15 miles SW of the “all snow” line. That being said… it was one of the most active winters of my life time. I’m 48 so I’ve seen some really good events but not many very good winters. My dad use to talk about the 50’s and 60’s where we would have snows on the ground for a week at a time. Two weeks later it would snow again. .

    Ryan Hall said yesterday in a video that he thinks we trend to a +PNA. Wouldn’t call him an expert but I’m sure he talks with a lot of people and fishes for their opinions. .
