  1. There was definitely something that enhanced the snow up the valley. At 3pm I looked at the radar and didn’t think anything again about it. By 5pm a friend told me the roads are getting rough around our house. I looked at the Radar again and couldn’t believe it. Definitely had something that caused more lift. .
  2. You can’t tell from these pictures unless you look at the backyard flood light how hard it’s snowing. Flakes are small, high ratio stuff but it’s a coming down. .
  3. I’ve got penny sized flakes but it’s coming down at a good clip .
  4. This burst of snow over N Knox Co is impressive. Radar ain’t picking up on what’s falling… .
  5. 5 miles up the road to the north of me has a heavy dusting. I’m at least 1.5” with moderate snow falling now. .
  6. Been at my in laws in Luttrell installing a ductless A/C Heat unit and just got home. Roads wasn’t that bad until I got close to my house in Halls. It went from a dusting to 1.5” in a few miles. Emory Rd is a disaster. I legit had to put my Wranger in 4 wheel drive to get into my subdivision. Looks like this is going to continue for a while. Another burst is about to move into N Knox Co. .
  7. You we’re telling us to not give up on this clipper 4 or 5 days ago. It would be so ETn to have this clipper over perform considering what we were looking at 10 days ago. .
  8. We have battered snow syndrome but it’s warranted. We have all had “cant miss” storms and Mother Nature pulled the rug out from underneath us. I remember in 2014’ or 15’ we had a 2 day overrunning event with temps in the low 20’s. QPF was up to 1.5” for everyone. About 2 days out the 850mb started creeping north and by the day of the event, 850’s were in central Kentucky. I was beside myself. .
  9. A friend sent me some pictures back in west Tennessee around 1918/19 of the Tennessee River frozen over. Pretty incredible .
  10. Lol. There’s enough negativity as it is on here at times. .
  11. One inch of snow on the back roads in Knox co will not be good. Even on state roads like Emory Rd where I live have sections that just don’t do well no matter how much snow melt they put down. The end of my subdivision comes out on Emory and it’s in a terrible location. Emory at my subdivision is a downhill turn that’s sloped to one side. People take it to easy and slide off into the ditch. From there the slide offs just multiply. My subdivision entrance is almost always blocked in that turn and there’s only one way in or out.
  12. Don’t know if it will make a difference but a blanket of morning clouds might help keep whatever low level moisture we have in place. .
  13. While the RGEM isn’t pretty, it almost looks like the snow maps indicates a redevelopment in the southern valley like you were saying. .
  14. I noticed MRX talked about how the better dynamics was not lined up with the better moisture. Makes me wonder what it would look like had they gotten lined up. .
  15. Seems like we always get our best snows when the temps are just cold enough. I can only remember a handful of times over the years where temps where never in question for a big snow. .
  16. Plateau shouldn’t do much to it if the clipper tracks from Memphis to Chattanooga right? That’s a similar track the ULL took 10 years ago or something like that when ETn got 6-10”. That’s when Birmingham to Huntsville picked up 5” in like 2 hours or something crazy like that. .
  17. You take the good with the bad in winters when the GOM is active .
  18. It’s wild… I’ve made it up to 18 and you can legit tell it’s warmer today .
  19. I was thinking Douglas would get some lake effect snow with how big it is at interstate 40 .
