  1. Not something we deal with much. I know the Christmas 2020 system was highly localized. I had around 6” in Halls but 10 min west of me in Powell had 2”. A friend in deep W Knoxville had almost 6”. My in laws in Union County, about 15 min away had an inch or so. .
  2. In a anafrontal system, is their elements that can enhance qpf that the mods don’t pickup on? NW flow, steep lapse rates, low level moisture, etc….? I’m assuming it could be rationed higher from cold 850’s? .
  3. Beautiful… you and John take great pictures .
  4. Buddy in Jackson Tn is reporting sleet and snow. .
  5. If that was about an hour ago north of Knoxville I was in it. That’s where my wind gusts came from. Pretty wild actually .
  6. The wind is absolutely ripping it at my house. Just had a 42mph gust. That’s extreme for a NTSWG for my area. .
  7. How difficult is it for a system to form on the warm side of an arctic front and throw moisture back across the boundary? .
  8. Following the season trend? https://x.com/bamwxcom/status/1744750814021689745?s=46&t=LVg8BRWCh1zZb6F_t95EVg .
  9. Already pushing 3” in Knoxville and this is on the way… .
  10. Here’s the Cove Mt opps for this interested. It’s a mountain wave site. 54mph gust https://www.nps.gov/subjects/air/current-data.htm?site=grsm&location=cove-mountain& .
  11. Well you know if it is accurate, that’s probably right on the ground. .
  12. Nothing wrong with tracking 7+ days with an active pattern and arctic air moving in makes this much different IMO. .
  13. I’m afraid that after tomorrow’s system completely clears the country, there could be a big swing for the Tuesday event for a day or so. We just need for whatever happens, happens after the front goes through. What the Euro showed earlier would break our spirits. .
  14. Was Christmas 2020 anafrontal? What I remember the most is a few days later, WATE Ch 6 gave themselves an “A-“ critique of their forecast. They predicted 1” and parts of Knoxville (my area) ended up with around 6”. They said the trailing energy which produced 90% of the snow “came out of nowhere” and that’s why they missed it. [emoji23]….. the wave that rode the front was on the mods for days before. Cams were spitting out 3-6” at least 48 hours before it started. [emoji1750] .
  15. I’m afraid they will be wanting that day back sooner than later .
  16. Speaking of wind… turn the volume up!!! https://x.com/tomniziol/status/1744487070234448349?s=46&t=LVg8BRWCh1zZb6F_t95EVg .
  17. It’s just waves getting picked up in the flow. Similar to what can spark severe weather during the spring. .
  18. The control and operation are not on the same page. No reason to be worried at this point. .
  19. This is ugly for ETn but I’ll stick to my theory that you never want to be in the bullseye in the 5-7 day range. .
