  1. Usually those N/W specials are coastals and we've had a hard time getting those in recent years. This being more flat, it was just the luck of the draw where the precip shield set up. Along and south of it you rocked. Otherwise, you were moisture-starved and had to eke out whatever you could.
  2. I reported 2.5 in the 9pm hour last night, woke and measured and additional 1.25" this morning so a storm total of 3.75" for me. Not what most got, but that cutoff line just wrecked anything north or west of it.
  3. Pretty much finished here at around 2.6" Busted about 2" under forecast.
  4. Yeah no way I'm getting to 3" ... I have snow on the ground, so hard to be upset, but the forecast did bust here.
  5. Temps are fine, just not enough QPF - the cutoff is real and it's sharp. Silver lining - not gonna bother to shovel with the rain and torch that's on the way.
  6. 2.5" and struggling to get to 3" - doesn't look great for chances.
  7. 2 1/4" here and judging by radar we'll be hard pressed to reach 3". Fun to look at, congrats to all that scored.
  8. Gotta say so far this is verifying spot on with maybe a tick north of modeling.
  9. Why bother making a Mojito? Neat is the way to go.
  10. Seems like Rt 50 is the demarc for the good stuff vs. the not-as-good stuff
  11. The occasional pitty flakes have begun
  12. No, but they're readying the ruler that only goes up to 2.5" ...
  13. Just measured 0" on the snowboard)
  14. Yep, lop off 25% from those juiced up maps and that's probably the target
  15. I'm about a mile from the Blue Ridge at 800', so far Western Loudoun
  16. Expecting 3" here, anything beyond that is a bonus.
  17. Updated discussion from LWX. More of a re-read of the forecast than a discussion. .NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM TUESDAY MORNING/... For the evening update, have refined timing of precip onset and changeover but did not change snow amounts. Have raised ice amounts west of I-95 Wednesday into Wednesday night based on latest guidance and trends. Additional winter weather headlines may be needed for this period especially west of US-15 and over northern MD. Otherwise, temperatures fall into the 20s to low 30s overnight. Cloud cover increases overnight as surface low pressure approaches from the south. && .SHORT TERM /6 AM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT/... A low pressure system will bring widespread snow to the area Tuesday afternoon through the overnight. Snow overspreads the area from southwest to northeast beginning Tuesday morning with snow reaching the metro areas in the early afternoon. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for the areas along and south of I-66 and the Washington DC metros. For the warned areas, heavy snow is expected with total accumulations between 4-7 inches. Locally higher amounts up to 8 inches are possible along the highest ridges in the Blue Ridge and Allegheny mountains. Further north, Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for areas along the MD/PA border with snow accumulation between 3 and 6 inches expected. Ice accumulations up to a tenth of an inch are possible along and west of the Blue Ridge Tuesday through Tuesday night with the greatest chances being for those in the southern portions of the area. Precipitation lulls Wednesday morning for a few hours before another low pressure system brings another round of wintry precipitation to the area. Mixed precipitation is expected with the main threat being freezing rain beginning Wednesday afternoon. A light wintry mix is possible Wednesday morning into the midday, before a steadier wintry mix occurs late Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night. Total snow accumulations up to 1 inch and ice accumulations around one quarter of an inch are possible with a Winter Storm Watch in effect for the Alleghenies and Blue Ridge. East of the Blue Ridge, temperatures will be above freezing with precipitation type likely remaining as rain throughout the day. 18. 34/19 and definitely plummeting under clear skies.
  19. Amazing that school bus technology has actually regressed in the last 40 years where they can no longer drive effectively in 2 inches of snow. Technological advances? Pffftt ....
