  1. Assuming no additional significant snowfalls, I guess I'll give the winter a C. There were some things to like and some things to hate. As far as things to hate, it was yet another pathetic December in what has been a string of them. The two storms in February top the highlights, with a near footer and a very enjoyable 6" storm. If you look at a map of seasonal snowfall, I am actually in one of the better locations in the LOT cwa, so I'm fortunate in some ways.
  2. I can't man, because the powers that be decided to come back 6 months later and hand down some discipline. Call it make up moderating. I know you've had your own negative experiences there.
  3. Forky has been doing this kind of thing for probably close to 20 years. There's no use in getting outraged anymore.
  4. 10 years ago, we were in the midst of Morch. Not quite a repeat this month, but have been enjoying the warmer days like today.
  5. On that subject, I remember February 2017 being near 70 with little wind. That was extraordinary.
  6. As someone who is from Indiana, I can chime in on this. As said in the post above, most of Indiana is in the eastern time zone. The entire state does change their clocks nowadays, which is something that started maybe 15 years ago or so (prior to that, the counties in the eastern time zone never changed their clocks). I'm currently in one of the IN counties in the central time zone, but used to live on the western fringe of the eastern time zone, which meant that the sun didn't set in summer until like 9:30 pm. That was kind of interesting.
  7. Covid numbers are going back up in parts of Europe. Germany in particular has high numbers. Europe has been the canary in the coal mine for the US but hopefully we can hold off a rise in the US until at least summer. Society at large could use some normalcy.
  8. Not digging what's lurking at the end of the week, but at least milder days start showing up more frequently at this time of year.
  9. For another pile on of the GFS, here's the 12z run from YESTERDAY. And you don't have to go back much more to find runs that basically had no flakes around northern IL/IN.
  10. Had around 3" here, with numerous reports of 3-5" in my corner of northwest IN. Rapid melting on pavement this morning.
  11. The GFS has really gotten to a new level of bad this winter when it comes to dealing with storm systems. I'm not even talking about the main low. Just look at what it's doing in the next 48-72 hours.
  12. fwiw, one of the main players with this system is still way up north, like in the Arctic Circle.
  13. Is it possible to return to the pre-upgraded GFS? Like seriously.
  14. My other post was more of a general comment. But while we're at it, I'll say that 3-5" makes it into southern Chi metro.
  15. Let's go on the record with a call. I say we get a band of 3-5" streaking though IL.
  16. Just a little busy. Decent low-mid level frontogenesis signal with this. While amounts will be higher west of the sub, I would be a little skeptical of the drier model runs.
  17. It has been finding all kinds of ways to act stupid and out of line.
  18. You really need to do something about your attitude. It's a bad look in general but especially since you're a met. There are standards for measuring snow. If you're using a regular ruler and come up with 3 1/8", would you say you got 3.125"? That would be a little silly, no?
  19. Should be a wide area that gets snow at least.
  20. Got a rain/snow mix at the moment. Kind of a weird situation because I can actually hear the rain hitting the roof but there is also a considerable amount of snow mixing in.
  21. Yeah, was just coming here to post that. Upstream radars are lit and definitely supportive of some heavier precip rates as it moves into the sub. Have seen some heavy snow reports in KS.
  22. You may be done with winter, but winter is not done with you.
