  1. Impressive numbers. Nobody needs 9" of rain though, which is the problem with summertime convection... often feast or famine. I made out pretty good over the past couple days with like 2"
  2. Also had triple digits at LAF and EVV.
  3. Boundary gonna wash out as we head deeper into evening.
  4. Hit 97 here even after getting over 1" of rain after midnight. Kind of impressive.
  5. I can't remember the exact name of it, but there's something like wet bulb global temperature which factors in wind speed and other things that the traditional heat index does not. I wish that could be incorporated into the decisions on heat headlines. A day with little/no wind and a heat index of 101 feels worse to me than a breezy day with a heat index of 106. The latter day would likely get a heat advisory while the former wouldn't.
  6. Water parks aren't much of an upgrade from public pools, at least around here.
  7. I went back and looked at this morning's forecast, and it was only low 90s. Potential was there to overachieve though (based on HRRR, etc).
  8. Up to 97 at IND, which is the warmest temp there since 2012.
  9. Some newer development ensures that it will make it in here.
  10. Outflow getting out farther ahead now, so not sure how long the storms themselves will maintain a severe threat. Wonder what the winds are like with that gust front.
  11. Not sure if this stuff to the north will build down this way. I look at the radar and think it will, and then I look again and think it won't. Probably gonna be a close call either way. Radar has a 6/13 vibe with current position of storms and movement.
  12. Euro is pretty hot too. How has it been handling today? Personally, I'm going with 82-102 across the area for tomorrow.
  13. NAM is really bullish on heat around Chicago tomorrow. Obviously it's a very low confidence scenario though as would need to avoid convection/outflow.
  14. Obviously take with about 100 grains of salt especially near the areas of convection as there's huge bust potential, but...
  15. HRRR is an inferno south of the convective influences tomorrow.
  16. He really is great, and not just saying that because he posts here. The time and effort he puts into the AFDs speaks for itself and is always appreciated.
  17. Got a pretty decent drink earlier.
  18. I found the storm I was talking about. June 14, 2010 if you're interested. Would've been crazy if this rolled through a more populated area. https://www.weather.gov/lot/2010jun14
  19. No idea when this was confirmed, but there was another tornado with the Chicago area supercell. It actually occurred before the other one, in Hoffman Estates.
