  1. I have a feeling that winter won't be that exciting in most of hurricane country.
  2. We now have a 30% hatched wind, 30% hatched hail and 10% hatched tornado, and Broyles wasn't involved in the outlooks.
  3. Have an idea for a winter thread that I'm pretty sure we haven't done before. Should I present it now or wait until, you know, winter?
  4. Looks like the warmup around here is going to be blunted from what it could've been.
  5. Can't believe nobody posted about the Sunday slight risk.
  6. The problem with cutting out earlier analog years is that it leaves an even smaller sample size (not like 8 3rd year Ninas is huge to begin with).
  7. There's a new D3 area in southeast Iowa
  8. As far as late weekend-early next week, records for Chicago for the period in question are generally 93-94. Will certainly try to make a run toward that, especially next week, but I'd lean on it falling a little short at this point... except at Magic Midway.
  9. Noticed it got down to 45 in Cedar Rapids this morning. Brrr
  10. It won't be quite like September 2017, but it does look like a respectable stretch of warmth coming up.
  11. I put all my faith in the CFS for October.
  12. Cedar Rapids just can't get the big one, rain or snow. Only derechos.
  13. 55 at noon... ugh. Thankfully a big warmup is on the way.
  14. There's a real shot that it doesn't get out of the 50s here on Monday. If it does make it to 60, it will be a real scratch and claw.
  15. No wonder there were problems in Chicago. Reports of 5-6" with 3"+ in one hour. That'll cause issues in an urban area.
  16. After having no measurable precip through the first 10 days of the month, ORD is up to 0.79" and counting. Sounds like there is some fairly significant flooding around parts of Chicago.
  17. The snow is not killing you... it's a manmade failure (power going out) that is killing you. There were a lot of deaths in Katrina that had nothing to do with pump failures. I know NO got a lot of the attention but the Mississippi coastal region was obliterated.
  18. Yeah, I'd say that setting your monthly temperature record 5 times in 7 days is pretty impressive.
  19. That is somebody dying from the cold because the power went out. Tell me how many people who stayed at home died from storm surge flooding in Katrina. Hint: it was a lot.
