  1. I just really wanted to say Saskatchewan screamer.
  2. Enjoy because it's curtains after this for a while for most/all of the sub.
  3. Looks respectable enough with good ratios. Road impacts will be exacerbated for anyone who is out on the roads due to the preceding cold.
  4. This is particularly crazy for us in the context of what Decembers have been like.
  5. Gonna go with 2.5" for a total. That's kind of what I was coming up with and it fits well with nearby reports.
  6. BUF went down to 0 visibility. Like zero. Not 1/8, not 1/16
  7. Will be interesting to see if people are a little gunshy if it trends better after what just happened. Can't really compare this setup to the current one though.
  8. -3 at ORD as of noon. Guidance has temps rising this evening as the core of the cold aloft slips east, so we're not going to be out of the woods after the afternoon high occurs. In fact, I'd say there's a pretty good shot that ORD will creep to or above 0 before midnight. But we'll see.
  9. I was wearing these thin gloves with a couple holes in them when I went out to snowblow last night, and I felt like my hands were on the verge of frostbite in less than 10 minutes. Really couldn't take it anymore. Thankfully I finally found my better pair.
  10. On 0.09" liquid. Pretty sad. But enough to give Chicago its second calendar day snow of 1" in December for the first time since 2017. Wait, that's sad too.
  11. It's uncanny how almost every single time that somebody posts a screenshot on this board, their battery is on the verge of dying.
  12. Went to a restaurant for dinner and there were literally 2 other people eating in there. People have gotten soft. Ooh, a little snow in northwest Indiana. The horror.
  13. Fired up my new toy for the first time (friend moved to FL and I got his snowblower). Pretty nasty conditions out there with a lot of blowing snow. I have a hard time getting good measurements when it's windy so we'll see what nearby areas come in with.
  14. After what you guys received in November. Living a charmed life there.
  15. Think we could still pull around 4" here. Or at least 3". Short range guidance is a bit iffy but it literally had 0" snow accumulation up until now, so there's a little head start so to speak.
  16. Regardless, it's mama Hoosier's birthday and I'm glad she gets to enjoy some snow.
  17. In addition, I believe the frontal position may be a tad east as well, but haven't had time to really check that.
  18. That's the potentially negative thing about the storm trending downward. Many more people may risk going out.
  19. Here's something that's kind of hard to believe. Chicago's record daily snowfall for 12/22 is 3.6", which is tied with December 21 for the lowest value in December. Also, there have only been 2 snowfalls over 2" on 12/22 -- in 1953 and 2009.
  20. The initial temperature drop behind the front seems to be occurring faster than progged. As an example the 17z HRRR had about 25 at ORD and it's currently 22. Models do tend to have some trouble keeping up in rapid advective scenarios. This goes the other way as well... we have all seen WAA be more robust than progged.
  21. Starting to get some scattered whitening of paved surfaces. Wow already down to 10 in Aurora. Still in the low 30s here.
