  1. The 18z NAM and 21z RAP came in with higher CAPE. If they look likely to verify, then a slight risk would be warranted imo.
  2. With the possible exception of Christmas Day or right after, we won't have a sub 100k day until next year.
  3. Remember what Forrest Gump said. Angrysummons is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.
  4. Set the daily case record in my county today despite cases being down statewide (typical for a Monday).
  5. He was questioning the administration's plan to distribute the vaccine, saying it is flawed. That's one thing, but he threw in a line about it being good news that Pfizer has promising results and bad news that it is 2 months before a Biden administration. That quote is going to be blasted all over the place and would've been better left unsaid.
  6. If we're being honest, the public comments about the vaccine rollout by Governor Cuomo are not helpful. The vaccine has already become political in some ways, no need to throw in more fuel if the goal is to vaccinate as many as possible.
  7. Certainly looks worthy of the marginal risk. Not going to take much to get strong/borderline severe gusts at the surface. Perhaps we can will a narrow slight risk out of this setup, but we'll see.
  8. There's a lot of skepticism about this vaccine. I saw a survey where significant numbers of doctors and healthcare workers said they wouldn't take the vaccine. Doesn't mean they can't change their minds of course. These are people in the medical field, so I can imagine how skeptical the general public will be. One challenge will be convincing people who had covid to get the vaccine. "I already had covid so I don't need the vaccine."
  9. Yeah, gonna be weird having a different host. I read that they taped episodes as recently as October 29, so his condition must have gone downhill pretty swiftly.
  10. RIP Alex Trebek. Loved watching Jeopardy over the years.
  11. Almost as many cases as yesterday in IN. That is an impressive thing since typically there is like a 15-20% drop in what's reported from Saturday to Sunday.
  12. Yeah that was quite a scene after the game.
  13. Agree. The wind fields and at least a little skinny CAPE should allow for a lower end/marginal risk type setup, but the threat would be substantially more robust with just a bit better mid level lapse rates and surface heating.
  14. Almost 40,000 more cases than last Saturday
  15. We wouldn't have to be talking shutdowns if people acted more carefully. The thing is you need almost everybody doing it at all times. I don't know how you're going to get the public to buy in to shutdowns/stay at home again, especially around the holidays.
  16. I'm not going down that road. Would be nice to see Biden make some mention of it in his speech tonight. He campaigned in a cautious way during this pandemic, so it would be good to tell those out in the streets who voted for him to remember that we are in a pandemic. The crowds may be out there again tomorrow and maybe even after that.
  17. Had CNN on earlier and they noted the lack of social distancing while pointing out the vast majority were wearing masks. It's not excusable though, and it's happening in umpteen places across the country right now. Biden is walking into a tremendous mess. There's no telling how bad this will be in 2 1/2 months.
  18. The mask wearing looks pretty good, but the social distsncing aspect gets an F grade. Yelling/screaming obviously not advised either even when wearing a mask.
  19. In covid news, over 12,000 cases in Illinois today. Really the entire heartland is spinning into a bad situation.
  20. Obviously have to factor in population and the amount of testing, but nonetheless, the 1 day record for cases in a state is just over 15k in Florida. It looks like Illinois may end up passing that mark sometime fairly soon.
  21. At the rate we're going, would not be surprised to see some areas with a stay at home. Not that it would be enforced well, but just saying.
  22. Doesn't feel like it... probably because it hasn't been in the 80s like March 2012. Will be interesting to see how it ends up comparing in a relative sense.
  23. Over 12,000 new cases in Illinois.
  24. Virtual Christmas will be a blast.
