  1. I mean the lake stuff is obviously overdone, but that is more of a problem on the Illinois side.
  2. May have been conservative with my earlier post. You might get to 6" an hour or two before midnight.
  3. 00z HRRR has another inch of liquid here through tomorrow evening. Bring it.
  4. Decent flake size here too and you are in better returns. You'll probably be at half a foot by midnight.
  5. Trees are acquiring a layer of snow, but overall it is still blowing around pretty well.
  6. I've always been partial to the Cantore in Worcester, MA thundersnow clip. Might have been 1995 or 1996. The reaction above seems a bit too contrived. I like the GHD tsnow clip in downtown Chicago too.
  7. My neighbor is already shoveling. At this rate they might as well stay outside for the next 10 hours.
  8. Given the amount of blowing snow we are already seeing, should be able to knock the visibility down to around 1/4 mile in the heavier banding. If not at the reporting sites, then in between.
  9. imo, you still have a shot at 10" with this one if it breaks right. I'd give it almost a 50/50 shot.
  10. The model that had a foot or whatever at IND?
  11. That would probably be it. Mine was 2/24/16. Can't remember when you moved back to IKK but even if you were there for that 2016 storm, they didn't get nearly as much as areas just northeast. I've mentioned it before but this gradient was crazy for a synoptic system.
  12. I think that one was more of a wall of heavy snow at onset though. Was in LAF then though with the infamous sleet storm so my memory of how it went in Chicago metro could be off.
  13. It's early but not really seeing signs of the paste/cake like appearance on the trees/power lines. And actually just as I look outside now, a gust came and really whipped the snow off of the roofs. If we can manage even modestly better than 10:1 ratios throughout with the modeled qpf, this would start getting into big dog territory.
  14. 21z RAP Kuchera has a foot south of Chicago.
  15. Some of the LOT zones have 7-10"... my area being one of them. This one feels good. Not a delayed start, radar looking good. Double digits or bust.
  16. Snow is blowing nicely considering the temps.
  17. I don't think it meant you when it said "the south" in the afd. Probably more like southwest areas like toward Pontiac would be my guess.
  18. I'd be a little surprised if there aren't at least isolated 10"+ amounts in the LOT cwa. Favored areas would be near the lake and around/south of I-80.
  19. Guess I should rephrase to say those amounts near the lake would only verify if everybody else overperforms. Not gonna have a 6" gradient between the lake and inland.
  20. Here too. Light and blowing sideways. Gonna be fun later.
  21. Yeah, toss the amounts on the western side of Lake Michigan. The lake effect parameters pretty much suck for this setup and the HRRR has been overdoing lake effect.
  22. "They" say these things like to drift north at the last minute. Seriously, hope it's not as dramatic as what the HRRR, etc are depicting. The way it hits a wall to that extreme does seem a little fishy but maybe RC or someone else can chime in.
  23. The CAMs are still doing that thing where the most intense reflectivity sort of hits a wall as it tries to get into Chicago metro.
