  1. Maybe nitpicking but 15:1 to 20:1 is pretty much what is expected at this point. So imo it would take something over 20:1 to be overperforming.
  2. LOT has a hell of a forecast on their hands. That is a solid winter storm watch/warning type of event but of course there is no way anybody is pulling the trigger on that at this point. I am almost tempted to wait for the 6z NAM.
  3. All things considered, a pretty ridiculous difference between the HRRR/RAP and the other models for being 36-48 hours out. You almost have to think there will end up being some kind of comprimise, even if it's 70/30 or 80/20 or something. Hard to imagine one of these camps completely nailing it at this point.
  4. The New Orleans weenies want snow, not zr.
  5. And still snowing here at the end of the run. I was wondering if some of this was about different models having different ratios, but they are all generally showing good ratios. The HRRR/RAP just have more qpf.
  6. We have the highest death rate now out of the main states in the subforum when looking at numbers per million
  7. Massive dump of deaths today in IN... like over 1500. I was wondering why the total rose so dramatically.
  8. Looks like there will be a narrow window to get this stuff off of the pavement before it freezes solid. Gonna wait an hour or two and hopefully whatever little falls after that is fluffy.
  9. A couple of the reporting sites around here have dipped to 32. And just using the eye test looking outside, it is sticking on the paved surfaces that had begun to melt.
  10. Prelim, I'd go 3-4" here. Do see some upside though with the ratios and/or just a more organized system.
  11. There are a whole lot of times it'd be raining almost everywhere in the sub with a surface map like this. In fact I had been checking CIPS in recent days and very few had accumulating snow as far south as this.
  12. No it's not. I trust this over in person obs.
  13. After the heavy snow tapered off, I noticed some melting on parts of the pavement. I think with getting later in the day and heading toward sunset, it will stick better on the pavement again even if it hangs a hair above freezing and rates aren't quite as heavy as early on.

  15. Lull time for a while here Still AOA freezing back toward the MS River, but notice the sharp drop behind the front.
  16. The south/southeastward sides of trees are plastered.
  17. Damn, it is almost a whiteout here. Snow blowing sideways. Maybe it's just me but the winds seemed to kick up more right after the heavier precip moved in.
  18. Yeah, it is going downhill quickly. The "wall" effect reminded me a bit of 12/8/05.
  19. Wait til you guys in the city see this. It's good.
  20. Ramped up quickly here. Went from a little bit of flakes to coming down hard. Gusty too.
  21. Kankakee went from 36 to 33. Should see a similar trend here soon. Really the question is whether we're going to get stuck at 33-34 or if it will be able to slip down to 32, especially during heavy rates.
  22. Yeah what's up with that. Don't remember the simulated reflectivity progs looking like that.
