So far my RDU zeroing out prediction is on track.

It has that kind of feel out there for sure. Sun is out in Raleigh and it is already over 70F out. Low clouds are racing by so there is definitely no shortage of low level wind shear.

Yeah we are going to start burning prime climo time soon enough. I never had a good feeling about this winter though. I said RDU would likely zero out this year.

It will only be cold rain here so time to look ahead for me personally. It will be a minor event for most who do see ice with a transient parent high. -
Wow! I miss this kind of thing a lot! That reminds me of that qlcs style one I had a few years back up there.

It is another ice scenario. Not really what we are looking for. As said above, an Apps runner.

ZR is self limiting without a steady CAA source. If the parent high is too transient you will see a quick end to the icing. The high in this case seems to want to move out fairly quickly.

I never said that but obviously it is highly variable still from run to run.

And this is why we don't get take 10 days out too seriously on model runs.

Looks icy at the end on the p-type/thickness maps with a 1034 parent high in Quebec.

BTV got around 7 or 8 last I saw. Pretty solid forecast. On a side note it even briefly snowed down here in the NC Piedmont today.
