  1. You can see the orographic enhancement along Catoctin Mt. and into S. Central PA already. Classic summertime setup for heavy rain.
  2. Severe Thunderstorm Watch coming out for Carroll, Baltimore County, Baltimore City, Cecil, and Harford counties until 6pm.
  3. Cautiously agree with you.
  4. It's a shame the trough aix isn't further SW into say SW PA. We'd be game on for a truly interesting day.
  5. HRRR really loves I-270 and points north and east today. Some parts of NE Maryland and Baltimore metro really jackpot (3"+).
  6. Early morning CAMs seem pretty progressive. Seems like we can put the flood risk to bed. More of a scattered wind threat today.
  7. Welcome to mesoscale forecasting.
  8. Tomorrow definitely has some potential, though I'm more interested in the flooding risk.
  9. Sunday is slightly intriguing for heavy rainfall potential. Particularly DC and points North and East. Might see a Mod Risk from WPC pop up for Sunday into Monday.
  10. Was fixing our flood sensor at Beach Dr & E Stanhope Rd. Heard the tower going up. Amazing how one or two blocks makes all the difference in the summer.
  11. Last night's rain was perfect to mitigate transplant shock. More perennials go in this weekend. I'm thinking bubble gum pink coneflowers and dahlias.
  12. M1.0" yesterday RSTM2 Co-Op site. Over 3" for the month. Good bye drought.
  13. M0.46 from Round 1. Round 2 inbound and looks solid. Exactly what the garden ordered.
  14. The I-795 corridor could use a good soaker. I transplanted a bunch of plants today and they need a ood soaking. The sprinkler can only do so much.
  15. Looks like the Hagerstown activity is Baltimore's only hope.
  16. Would rather we get one solid line than a bunch of piddly junk. DCAPE should revover to close to 1,000j/kg if we can manage decent sun.
  17. Late to the game, but added another Liatris and 2 Black Eyed Susans to the front garden. Planted about 150 Tiger Paw Aster seeds and rowed in a huge patch of Zinneas.
  18. Looks like the low level junk is eroding out. Seems like we're not too far behind for today. I'm planting a lot of perennials today so I really need a good soaking this afternoon.
  19. The watch was entirely justified, IMO. Yesterday was one of those days where not everyone gets a storm, but if you get under one you're in trouble. Ridiculous CAPE and modest shear plus a bay breeze boundary or two = wet microburst potential. Honestly surprised there wasn't a tornado watch further northeast in PA. Some of the pictures coming out of there are rather impressive. Site build homes from the 70s with total failure of rooves and brick walls.
  20. That was my first cradle to grave damage assessment. I was in the Emergency Operations Center and started to map out the initial damage points. It became pretty clear within about 30 min we had a tornado. Got out the next day at 7am with NWS to start looking at it.
