For those interested, here is a public facing GIS dashboard of the Maryland Mesonet sites. Expect updates as site selection is finalized and land use agreements are signed. Probably a lot of mixed bag events this year. The upside is we won't be dry as a bone in the boreal forests of Canada. Should mitigate the wildfire risk next spring.

Really need dry weather from Oct 9th to 27th. We are pouring concrete for our first set of mesonet stations and rain will muck everything up.

It's both. Climavision had a great presentation at the New York mesonet. They're planning to fill most of the existing NEXRAD gaps as part of an agreement with NOAA/NSSL. Personally, I'm glad. This is a great way to provide operational data to NWS and fill longstanding gaps.
